Default Chevrolet Price Increase Effective February 18, 2009

Chevrolet will announce revised 2009 model year prices effective with vehicles produced on or after February 18, 2009. Select model and option dealer discounts will be reduced. Dealer invoice amounts will increase accordingly.

Dealer price schedules will be available in GM Dealerworld under Sales &/Or F&I Tabs effective February 18, 2009. Reference administrative message #VSF20040006 (dated February 26, 2004) for more information regarding this web site.

Sold order price protection eligibility dates are dictated by the customer and dealer order dates as follows:

-Customer order date must be prior to the date of the price increase.

-GM systems order date (date dealer enters in GM system) must be no more than one work day after the date of the price increase.

These units will be invoiced at prices in effect at the date of production; however, the dealer open account will automatically be credited for the price increase once the unit has been delivered.

Generally, fleet orders are invoice price protected (i.e., bid center FBC order types, VQ orders). All other fleet orders will be price protected according to the bona fide sold retail price protection policy above. Refer to the price protection effective date on the invoice.

It is anticipated that this pricing information will be available for the majority of models in the Order Workbench Configure a New Vehicle process at 8:00AM EST Friday, February 20, 2009. All models should be complete and available in Order Workbench by 8:00AM EST on Thursday, February 26, 2009.

The revised pricing will be reflected in GM AutoBook with data version 147.2 which will be available on Thursday, February 19, 2009.

Simply amazing. Energy and raw material costs have been in free fall for the past 6 months but GM wants us to believe their costs have increased. This just makes it even more difficult for dealers and everyone else.

ken,
in my area, 1 dealership has closed 2 others are in dire straights and the other larger ones well, there are many discounts available including the vette, and, they are discounting cobalts below 13K, impalas right around 18K, aveo's below 10K yet the malibu's are still right around sticker (N/D) and they are having a hard time moving inventory because (i feel) until people know for sure if GM is going to even be around (to honor their warranties) not many are buying! now, if these cars aren't selling at these historically low amounts what makes GM think that by increasing the prices across the board they are going to win favor with the car buying population? i know you do not set the prices, but this seems like a bone head move on part of GM.

Yikes. I guess 1200 leftover brand new 2008s sitting on the lots isn't enough (according to autotrader listings). Well, who knows . . . maybe in a twisted way this ill timed price increase will actually get those sold finally.
