Ken,
A while back I had read about a discount available on XM radio service subscriptions. I don't remember if it was an employee thing( I am) or not, but wondered if you have any info about that subject? Thank you. and Merry Christmas.
I've been bombarded with calls from XM after my trial subscription ran out on my 08 Silverado and I guess I can try asking for the discount rate when they call again. And they will call.
Well, XM called this morning. I wasn't going to answer it being it's Sunday and I haven't had enough coffee.
Because I let the original 3-month trial that came with my new truck lapse, the guy offered me another 3 months for $4.99 a month to try it again. I told him that I was a Sirius customer and didn't really want to have two full subscriptions. I asked him about the $77 deal and he just wouldn't budge. Said he wasn't "authorized".
So I took the 3 month deal. There is supposed to be a Sirius Connect Kit (radio) coming out in the next month or so for new GM vehicles that replaces the XM factory installed radio unit. Once that comes out, I may buy that and get a add-on subscription from Sirius that is the same price as the $77 XM deal.

Some reps will do it, some will not. You have to call the regular XM number. I also got Onstar for $12 a month and 130 minutes for the hands free calling for a year after trying a few times.
1. Call 1 800 967 2346
2. Tell them you got a promo for $77 for a year
3. Get an extra 12.95 off for putting on credit card.
4. XM at over 1/2 off
you must call that number in order to get the discount. if you are not already a credit card customer with them, you will get the xtra $12.95 off, if you already use a cc with them, you do not qualify for that disc, but you will still get the $ 77 promo. I just did it the other day, and I am good til 12-31-09
I have 2 radios on the same account. Both were expiring later this month. I called 877-854-1695 and asked if I could get the same price ($77/ea) as last year. The rep said "I can do better than that. How 'bout $62.16 each for a year?"
I just called the number that SSROADSTER gave and it was no problem getting the $77 deal. They would not give me the extra discount for using the CC unless I did an "auto renewal", which I did not do. I will however, take the $77 for the year because otherwise I surely would have cancelled the service.

They called me several times to renew. Next thing I know, the radio is off XM
So I call in and I talked to a very nice lady.
She tried to sell me all kinds of packages.
$149 a year, and even a lifetime rate for like $399 or $499.
When I laughed and I told her the word on the street was that they wouldn't even be in business for another year, she just chuckled and said "yea, I heard that also." I told her about that special rate of $77
I had seen here on the web and see said that was a special rate, but she would ask her boss. He said give it to him, so she did.
We settled on the $77 dollar rate for one year. That was total, no other fees or taxes and they billed me. My radio was back on in 20 mins after I hung up and went out and started my car on the drive home from work.
I wasn't going to give them my credit card numbers. The bill came and it was just like she said $77.
I waited a couple of weeks and then sent the check in. I must have had 4 more calls from XM in the next few days. All with rates larger then the $77 a year rate I had already gotten.
Does this work for Sirius also since they're now merged?
I called them today to ask after getting the $77 deal with XM for our other car. They told me no, but I asked for the cancellation dept and I was on hold for a total of 18 min just waiting, and never got anybody to pickup.
