Default DBS is driving me crazy

My 2005 C6 is an automatic... with a constant dead battery. Any help on this matter would be appreciated. It does have Lo-Jack, could this be a contributing factor?

dacampi1,

I have not heard of lo jack causing this problem at all. You may have a short of something along that line that is draining the battery. I have checked GM for any bulletins on this and the only thing they have is a bulletin about certain cell phone chargers causing an RFI interference resulting in a no start condition. I will give you a copy of this below. This may be something you need to get back to your dealer on.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:
Certain brands of Cell Phone Chargers may produce Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) or Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) that can disrupt the electrical systems within the vehicle. This interference can cause a no start condition with a "No Fobs Detected" message on the DIC. The concerns created by the use of these chargers may be intermittent and random. The concerns can be present with or without the phone connected to the charger. This condition usually occurs when using a non name-brand charger.

Recommendation/Instructions:
Disconnect the cell phone charger from the vehicle and evaluate the customer concern. If the concern is corrected, advise the customer that OEM cell phone chargers, provided by the cell phone manufacture, typically have additional filtering to eliminate this type of interference.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.

Try looking up GM Techlink, June 2005
2005: Service Information: Low or Completely Discharged Battery.

If a cause can not be located with normal diagnosis, check with the customer or the sales department to determine if the vehicle is equiped with an aftermarket security system. These systems use a small transmitter or GPS locator that is hidden in the vehicle and is usually unknown to the technician. The transmitter is typically installed in the HOT-AT-ALL-TIMES dome lamp circuit and prevents the Body Control Module ( BCM ) from entering the sleep mode.

Hope this is of some help. Good luck

Default Dead Battery

Do you have a multi-disk CD changer. I just discovered mine is causing my battery to go dead in my 1973 Vette. Seems that one of the power wires is designed to be connected to BAT power plus switched power. There is a warning in the installation manual that if you don't drive the car very often, the battery could be drained.
