Ken,
Can you tell me a little about the Performance Rotors you are selling (set of 4)? I have a base suspension and want to know if they are the Z51 rotors or another variation of them? Can I just change out the rotors and keep the and just replace with the stock pads? The ceramic pads you're selling, do they stop like the Z51 stock setups or better? Are they better at higher speeds? Are these rotors cross-drilled or cross-drilled AND slotted? Are they larger than the base suspension brakes? And lastly, can I use my original calipers on the car or will I need larger caliper bolts or pieces(or whatever they're called?)?
Lastly, are they zinc coated and if not, can they be? Do you do the coating or have it done before you send them out?
Oh, and does my stock braking system have Dot-3 fluid or 4? If not 4, should I change out the fluid when changing the rotors with the Dot-4 at that time?

Thanks for answering this-it will help me make up my mind about changing the brakes once and for all.

They've been listed on your web site for a while now, but when will they actually be shipping?

I will answer several questions together.

Purple Heart
These rotors are a direct bolt on replacement for your base stock rotor. They are the same size but drilled and slotted. We have sold several thousand sets of these and they work great. Your stock calipers mount right on with no mods of any kind. These rotors are not zinc washed which is one reason they are not 200.00 ea. but there is an easy and inexpensive cure. Buy a can of either engine high temp enamel in a color you want or get a can of barbeque high temp black paint and paint the center hub and outer edge of the rotor. Some people have gone so far as to paint the holes and slots as well; then using a scotch brite type pad scuff the paint off the braking surface. This takes 30-45 minutes of your time and $7-9 for paint and carry on.
The C6 comes with Dot 4 fluid in it so no need to change.

I have called GM/HELM and only get a voice mail. The last time I talked to them in January they figured it would be at least sometime in March before they would have them to ship. It was the end of March or the first part of April last year. I have a full pallet load on order and they tell me I will be in the first batch out.

If anyone has any questions or wishes to order call me at 800-234-5284 or email me at parts@fichtnerchevrolet.com

thanks for the reply, Bob. I've got just ONE question left: If I do buy these rotors will they actually lessen the standard stopping distance, say, at 60mph and, if not, will the ceramic pads work better than the stock for both stopping distance and less squeal and brake dust. I promise no more questions after these and make a decision to buy or not to buy.
I appreciate your answers to my original questions thus far and would be very appreciative if you could humor me just this once more.
Thank you for your time on this matter.

Purple Heart,

The rotors do not actually lessen or increase the stopping distance. The slotted and drilled will cool better in hard braking situations and also are popular for their looks. The ceramic brakes are primarily for less dusting. In everyday driving up thru spirited driving you probably not notice any stopping distance change from OE. They are not for the track though as Delco says if you get them very hot you will have some brake fade and excessive pad wear. The ceramics are by far the most popular brakes we have available.

I have not started working on my March special untill I get the current pricing from GM on everything. I should have it in the next 1 or 2 days then will put a special together.

I will see what we can do on a C5 Z06 bar kit.

Watch for the special post later this week!

How about a C6 door handle, rear spoiler and license plate frame (body colored) package deal. I'd be all over that in Monterey Red.

Tom

PS: Can't wait to receive my Monterey Red interior dash pieces.

Bob,
I see that I can't use the Corsa Touring exhaust with an 06 AT car. Does the GM performance exhaust include the X pipe qnd if not what is your best price shipped to NJ with the X pipe.
