Thanks to each of you for your email and for your interest in the very exciting new 2006 Corvette Z06!
Chevrolet will be communicating the number of allocations to dealers later this month and we may begin submitting order requests on June 16, 2005.
Initial allocations will be available for production July 25, 2005 thru July 31, 2005.
To date I have made promises to 12 customers whose requests were made first. These requests were made in writing up to 3 years ago. We have nearly 500 requests at present. It is possible that one or more of the first 10 on our list will not place an order when it is time to place an order. At that time we will offer any unsold allocations to customers in the order in which their written requests were made to us.
I am estimating, based upon the information that I have received from Chevrolet, that we will receive 4 Z06s per model year. Thus, at this time, it appears that we are sold out of Z06s for 2006, 2007 and 2008.
We will price the new Z06 at a price equal to MSRP plus $0 for dealer prep, handling, documentation, market adjustment, etc.
Have a successful day,
Ken Fichtner

Only 4? Doesn't seem like much. Is the allocation based on the number of C6s you sold over a certain period? If so, it would seem that most dealers might not get any allocation.
This seems to be strongly implying that GM is not going to be building 15-20% of the vettes as Zs as originally reported. After the first year, I have my doubts that 5000+ Zs can be sold at the pricing released yesterday. This car may become more exclusive than what we have been thinking for the past 6 months. Ken had posted several months ago in answer to my question that he might get between 5 to 10 per year based upon previous allocation experiences.
I am being very conservative in my estimate of what I will receive. I can only hope for more. Any dealer who takes a large number of deposits and makes promises will find themselves making excuses later and I will not allow myself to get in that position.
At this time dealers only know what their allocations are for the first week of production the end of July.
Thanks for your clarification Ken. We know you what to under-promise but over-deliver on your commitments. And that's only one of many reasons why we value your support of CF. Obviously GM has not yet made viewable the total allocation numbers or even a 6 months outlook for dealers. I hope we will know soon.
I was at the Museum and toured the production line on May 25. I saw several ZO6s being assembled, maybe as many as six. Does not that mean they had been ordered even though the pricing had not been released?

No - these are still most surely pre-production cars for testing purposes and likely not federally certified for use and purchase by the general public. Most likely will be crushed after their testing is finished. I don't think any Zs have been built yet that can be sold to you or I. That production starts July 25th.
Good point! If the 2005 C6 is an indication of how the quality control and engineering is going to be on the first year model Z06 then I am willing to wait.
I really want a Z06 but I am very concerned about the quality of the product at this point. It seems that almost every time I log onto the Corvette Forum that someone announces a new problem they are having with their C6.
I wish I had a good quality Dealership like Ken Fichtner's around the DFW area to take my car to if I have problems but I haven't found one yet that really cares.
Most of the Dealerships around here act as if the Corvette is a $200,000 Ferrari before you buy it
As soon as you drive it off the the lot they treat you as if you just purchased a Yugo!!
Sorry for the rant

There is a GT-500 coming out so you might check that one out.

Just another alternative for the sake of high performance machinery
Harold,
The build time is 4-5 weeks from the time the order request is approved within a dealer's allocations.
The build time is infinite if the dealer does not have an allocation!
