Default C6 oil pan drain plug gasket

When last I changed the oil I tried two different dealers to get a new seal for the drain plug. I find that I cannot get the seal by itself, it comes with the plug. There must be something wrong here, I cannot believe I have to change the drain plug every time I change oil. Your input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I don't think that is correct. Your dealer isn't looking hard enough. I have bought the rubber gasket separately at two separate local dealerships. I am sure Parts Bob at Fichtner will be able to help you out. Buy some UPF44 filters while you are at it to make the shipping worthwhile.

My chevy parts dealer tried to do the same thing until another parts guy showed up and said the rubber gaskets are sold separateley.

I will ask Roberto Wendorffo, our parts manager, to post a reply to this topic.

I would recommend changing the gasket every 4th or 5th oil change. The rubber will eventually cook and take a thermal set.

I installed a Fram Sure Drain on all my cars ,including the C6. You never have to worry about the gasket again. Available all over for $12.95. Easy to install and safe. If you don't find a listing for a C6 it's the same as C5. (Ther are 4 different models). Only disadvantage is the the oil may drain a little slower!

Default Is the magnetic drain plug a brand new plug or a plug from a C-5?

YellowVette22,

That rubber is the seal and just give the plug to your oil change people. The seals last for multiple changes so no worries there for quite a while. If you have any questions give me a call at 800-234-5284
