Ken ,
With this change (again), the way I understand the program is that a dealer that sells even ONE unit thru (GMS for everyone) HAS to use that program on ALL units on all of his BRANDS , untill July 5, 2005. Am I correct?

GM.com says right now "Excludes 2005 Chevrolet Corvette and medium duty trucks. Take delivery by July 5, 2005. See dealer for details." under the GM Employee Discount for Everyone details.

I'm not questioning you Ken, but it sure is confusing for the consumer to figure out what is going on. Maybe GM ought to work on better communication as well as better prices in order to lure consumers.

2ndZ06,

The "GM Employee Discount for Everyone" is different from the discounts mentioned above, therefore it has different exclusions.

The discounts mentioned above are for people who are authorized to purchase a GM Vehicle using "GM Supplier" or "GM Employee" discounts by either being employed by GM or being affiliated with a company who is a GM Supplier. For instance, I am employed by American Airlines and they are a certified "GM Supplier" company so I am authorized to use the "GM Supplier" discount.

The "GM Employee Discount for Everyone" is for anyone else who does not normally qualify for the "GM Employee" discount.

Hope that clears things up

Jack,

Thanks for your post....you are right on.

To everyone, please let me try to explain all of this:

There is really nothing confusing about the programs presently in place:

1) The GM Employee Discount for Everyone national program for those not able to purchase under the GM Employee or GM Supplier plans excludes Corvette and has since announced last week.

2) The GM Employee and GM Supplier plans include Corvette.

3) Dealers participating in the GM Employee Discount for Everyone national program must offer all in stock vehicles at the set price under the program. Again, let me repeat that Corvettes are excluded.

4) A dealer may choose to offer or not to offer Corvettes to GM Employees and Suppliers.

5) To purchase under the GM Employee or Supplier plan you must have a certification allowing you to do so.

Have a great week,
Ken Fichtner

Thanks for the clarification.

So the 'GM Employee Discount for Everyone' program should really be called the 'GM Employee Discount Lite' or the 'Almost GM Employee Discount for Everyone'.

Thanks Ken as always for passing the straight scoop on to us and keeping us informed. The really good news is that GMS is available on ALL Corvettes again and this time they listed 2006 models as well as the 2005s. Now if they would just change the retention period on Vettes back down to 6 months like it used to be instead of 2 years, then things would be good again.

Jeff

Based on Ken's post, Corvettes are not part of the discount plan.

Based on 2ndZo6's post, Corvettes are part of the discount plan.

I have re-read the two posts and don't understand what is being offered.

Please advise either the

Corvette is offerable for discount to anyone whether they work of GM or not

or

the Corvette is not offerable for discount to people who are non-GM related/approved/employeed.

Thanks. Sorry for my confusion.

Here are the facts again. These statements are factual based upon the program rules issued by GM regardless of what someone else might post in this or other forums:

SUMMARY:
If and only if you are an eligible Supplier or GM Employee with a certificate AND if you can find a dealer willing to honor the certificate, Corvettes qualify.
If you are not a Supplier or GM Employee you CANNOT purchase a Corvette under the recently announced sales promotion, Employee Discount for Everyone.

Default GM Quota - Frustrated

Ken I searched about 15 dealers last March to find a dealer that would honor the GM employee discount on the C6, without any success. I finally found a local dealer in Winnemucca NV that would give me a $3500 discount. I placed my order on March 15th and was told by the dealer that he had allocation. In the middle of May he called me and told me that GM had met their quota and cancelled my order. The following Saturday he took the order off museum delivery and come to find out it's still on order.

Fortunately Marvin came through for me and I was able to place the order with him but at a higher price.

Can someone tell me if this is true that GM would meet their quota and cancel orders that supposable had allocation?

Personally I think he found a new customer that would pay more.

A dealer has an allocation or they do not!!!

In your case they either used the allocation for someone else or they did not have an allocation to begin with.

I searched about 100 dealers and found 8 or 10 that would do GMS. I ordered one and my build date is the 27th. I think 15 dealers just isn't enough. :-p
