I have a 2004 vette that was purchased new on June 30, 2004. I have received your quote list for GMPP. I understand that the coverage begins on the date of contract purchase, however, there is a state-specific requirement on the contract for Arizona:
"The time and mileage limits of any new vehicle plan commence on the same date as the manufacturer warranty. Contract terms include the manufacturer warranty"
This means that a 48/48/0 protection plan would not really give me 48 months of protection in Arizona. It would start from the vehicle purchase date, which would give me an extra 12 months on my factory warranty.
I called a few dealerships here in Arizona and all of them said the contract begins from the date of vehicle purchase.
Is there any difference in the coverage period if I purchase the plan from you in Montana rather than from here in Arizona?
I spoke with Fichtner the other day and he assured me that the warranty date would begin from the day that I bought the GMPP contract.
He said he has sold many of these to AZ vette owners and there has never been a problem.
Perhaps that law (it is written on the sample contract on gmprotectionplan.com) only applies to GMPPs sold IN Arizona. Again, all the Arizona dealers that I called insisted that the GMPP begins from the date the vehicle was first bought.
BTW, I purchased a 48 month/60k miles/0 deductible from Fichtner for about a grand. That was hundreds cheaper than any AZ dealer offered...and the AZ dealers were only offering me the 48 month warranty beginning from the day the vehicle was first purchased.
Just curious... if the GMPP doesn't start until the date I purchase the GMPP what incentive do I have to purchase it until close to the end of the manufacturer warranty? Why not just wait until the manufacturer warranty is almost up and then purchase the GMPP? Am I missing something here?
Yes, Ken advised me the wisest date to buy is just before I reach 12 months or 12,000 miles, so I can get the "new" rate. But, likewise, I don't know how much the rates go up after that.
I have a copy of both sets of rates. They go up around 75%...For example: 48months/60k/0 ded in the first 12 months is $1065...after 12 months it is $1775.
