OnStar Digital Upgrade
Parts Bob,
What is the deal with the digital upgrade for our C6s OnStar Equipment? I would like to be able to use my Verizon Phone Plan thru OnStar but it appears that I need a Digital Upgrade before it can be done. The OnStar website says to contact your dealer for questions about this upgrade. Oh yes, I got my notification that my Brake Pads and Top cover are on the way, Thanks.
Bob

I will ask Bob to research this today (5/19/05) and post an answer.
Have a great day,

Your C6 onstar system is both analog and digital already. If you want to use your cell phone minutes thru the onstar calling contact onstar by pushing the blue button. When you get the advisor on the system they can walk you thru how to make the system work for you. It is possible you may need to contact Verizon, but Onstar should be able to tell you. I have no bulletins on this thru parts or service yet that I can find, but this is what I have been told by Dennis Fichtner.

Bob,
I will call OnStar. The website for OnStar mentioned that any car with analog and digital ready would have to be upgraded to digital. The OnStar website said to contact the dealer for upgrade. I will keep you posted on what I learn from OnStar.

Bob,
I just spoke with Stephanie @ OnStar and here is the information I was provided. All 2005 Corvettes are equipped with Gen 5 OnStar (Analog, Digital Ready). To use the Verizon Wireless Phone with your OnStar you must be digital or Gen 6 OnStar. According to Stephanie all 2006 Corvettes will have Digital OnStar (if ordered with OnStar). Stephanie stated that I will be receiving a letter from OnStar sometime shortly after September 1, 2005 to advise me on the status of the digital upgrade for my Corvette. Hope this helps.
