Default Z06 Shipments

DISTRIBUTION - ATTENTION: DEALER OPERATOR AND SALES MANAGER

Subject: 2006 Corvette Z06
Message #:CHD20050179
To: All Chevrolet Dealers

From: VSSM Order Fulfillment

Re: 2006 Corvette Z06

Date: September 15, 2005

Because the 2006 Corvette Z06 is such a highly anticipated car, we want to let you know that the first customer units began shipping to dealers on September 9th. Since we know that VIN sequencing is important to many Corvette customers, we also want to inform you that the vehicles released will not necessarily be in a specific VIN order. We projected that Z06 would ship to customers in the fourth quarter, so we are pleased to beat that target with an earlier ship date.

Based on tremendous customer demand for the new Z06, we ask that you continue to encourage customers to be patient because it will take several weeks to fill the distribution channel.

The pilot car story makes sense given what was replaced. The Chevrolet exec replaced. The tires at 1200 miles. The generator (seriously, that's what it says), the wheels, and the front side door trim panel applique at 1,900 miles. The brake pads were replaced at 3200 miles (carbon ceramic). The front seat cushion cover and pad replaced at 8500 miles, and all four shocks at 13,800 miles.

I bought it at 13,800 miles. I have replaced 3 brake wear indicators and a front camera. I have about 28,000 miles on it now.

It goes to the body shop next week. I hit about a 3x3x5 plastic shipping crate at 80 miles per hour. It exploded and knocked the teeth out and punctured a radiator. Not sure which one, but it was not the main radiator. It leaked about a gallon.
