Default Storing and Delivering a C5 Cross Country

Good Evening Everyone,
I am assisting a family member by storing their 2005 in the garage until spring then taking a road trip from Detroit to Arizona.
Although I enjoy driving a good ride, I am not a car nut (sacrilegious in Detroit but what can I say)
I am open to any suggestions for storage and not letting the battery die until the roads clear. The drive on Saturday from northern MI to Detroit was interesting.
Also I am looking for suggestions for the drive to AZ. We are thinking of going the northern route through Colorado at the end of May instead of through OK and TX. Colorado mountains and the handling on the car seem to be a match.

Jealous you are going to Colorado mountains with your C5. That's something on my bucket list
