Default Hello North Texans!

Hey everyone, my Fiancé and I recently purchased our first Corvette, a 1979 C3 Vette. We don't know to much about older cars but we are eager to learn and get involved with a good group of people to help us learn! Before we bought this car we had it checked out at a local Chevy Dealership (in Arlington) and they said it was in great shape etc etc... All it needed was new belts and hoses and some general PM work done. So we pulled the trigger. We decided we had better take it to a specialist to have all the work done; we got on this forum to get some references and ended up taking it to Mid-City Classics (great group of guys up there). After they were done going through it I got a call from them, come to find out the car had been hit in the front, back, had some valve leaks, break line leaks, and needed a lot of differential work. And to top it all off the engine is not original to the car, it belongs to a '74. We were pretty bummed about all the work that we now needed to have done as well as the lack of disclosure from our previous inspection at Vandergriff Chevrolet in Arlington Texas. We bit the bullet in order to get our new car road ready and reliable. We just got it back last Thursday and are looking forward to some driving after the Holidays! That’s our story! Looking forward to meeting some of you and gettin to know more about our car and hear other stories!

Welcome to the forum. Sorry too hear about the problems with your 79. Stealerships are the last resort for work/info on your Vette.

Welcome to the forum! I used to live in Grand Prairie & Arlington as a kid in middle school (Go COWBOYS!).
Wish I could move back to the area, more cruising days in DFW as opposed to St. Louis.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your purchase. Sorry to hear of your experience but at least you are driving a classic Corvette.

Yes, one of the first things I learned here is that just because Corvettes say "Chevrolet Motor Division" on them somewhere, doesn't mean that All Chevy dealers are qualified to touch them. In fact, most are not.
