New Member from DC/MD, Still Working on the Car
I've always liked Corvettes, ever since I saw my aunt's blue c5 as a kid (She has a silver c6 now she let me drive once). Never entertained the idea of having one until I got into motorcycles about 3 years ago, which bumped up my interest in all things mechanical. I have been really itching for something new since I had to give up my bikes when I moved away from school (Virginia Tech).
I'm originally from the Shenandoah Valley (Luray), and I worked at the Caverns some in High School. I loved when Corvette clubs would roll through and be sitting together out in the parking lot. I'd be willing to bet that I've seen at least a few of the cars on this site at some point. SO many groups would come by throughout the year.
I've been looking for a cheap c4 for the past year or so as something to play with and work on/take apart, but nothing's come to fruition yet. C5s are still out of my justifyable range, but I have a mini-dream of using my product development/engineering degrees to develop something that I can share and put towards this hobby/mild obsession. I found an almost unused '98 hood nearby that I am going to use as a base for creating "stock" completely carbon fiber c5 hoods (no fiberglass, I'm a purist). I'm pretty confident I can pull it off, but regardless, I'll figure out some way to fund a Vette of my own. Time will tell. My ultimate dream is to design and build a car of my own, but I need a place of my own before I can even start thinking about that project.
Until then, I'm glad to be here, and I can't wait to explore the site and learn as much as I can. I've come across several threads while researching various ideas I've had, and I'm impressed with everything I've seen. The information here is invaluable, and I'm sure the knowledge and advice from other members will be even more amazing. Hopefully I will be able to give back in some way.
