To go newer or not to go newer? That is the question.
I am looking to buy my first Vette and can not wait to find the right car at the right price! My Vette would be a second car used primarily on weekends and having fun.
I have always been in love with Vettes and thought that vintage was the way for me to go. I was looking for a '74-'77, but have recently began researching newer Vettes: 2004-2007. Obviously, there is a price difference, but I wanted to send this thread and get some feedback on which route you would go (Vintage vs. Newer) and why.
I love vintage Vette's curves and I can easily get into a very nice one(excellent paint, great motor, good interior, etc.) for approximately $15k. On the other hand, does it make more sense to spend about $10k more (I agree, a big chunk of change) and get into a 2004-2007 for its reliability, resale, and low maintenance (knock on wood with any vehicle!)?
Any/all comments are appreciated. Thank you!

Welcome to the Forum! The C6 is very good on maintenance and I would pick a '06 over a '05. But I would never give up my C4 again. Get what makes you happy, because if you are not having fun, no one else’s opinion matters.

Welcome to the forum! I think VetteJockey summed it up quite well - get what makes you happy. Don't worry about resale and get what you like.

Welcome to the Forum Those are two very different vettes but you could be happy with either one just depending what puts a smile on your face every time you drive it.

I was kinda in the same boat you are now. I really liked the body style of the 68-72 but knew this would end up being my daily driver as well. I went with this C6 due to the interior differences and the ride quality. Even though I have a Z51 suspension it's much more forgiving using it for a daily commute than my older models were.
Also, if you go the older route buy a daily driver. If not it ends up costing a bunch of money up front to get a garage queen driveable. Make sure and check all the front-end bushings and every seal on the car! This becomes quite expensive to maintain if you don't look the older car over REALLY well before purchase.
Good luck on your purchase and remember the only person you need to make happy is yourself!

That's a big point - I always had a daily driver and drive the cars on weekends and days off, etc.

Welcome to the Forum!!!!!!!!!! The others have about said it all. So all I have left, IMO if you want a fun car that will put a smile on your face because it's a cool car, save the cash and find a C3. If you want a fun car that will put a smile on your face because it's a cool car that is comfortable, powerful, fast and handles like crazy, then spend the extra cash and go for the C6. Good luck, enjoy whatever you buy and enjoy the Forums.
