Hi, my name is Jim and I wrote a nice long intro that I previewed but never clicked submit! AUGH!!!!!! lol I'm looking to get back into the Vette game and while searching for cars I came across this community.
I've been a Trans Am guy since my early childhood and have had a 1979 Trans Am since high school.
I bought a 1985 C4 Corvette
as a daily driver in 1993 when I tricked the Trans Am out just a little too radical for it to realistically be a daily driver anymore. The C4 was a great car and I loved it (other than the noisy sometimes leaky targa top) In January 2001 when they announced that the Firebird would be discontinued after the 2002 model year, I sold the Vette on EBay to a guy in Boston who bought it for his wife.....(I hear it's purple now, poor car) And went and bought a 2001 WS6 "Hurst Edition" TA.
Since then I've been driving the 2001 "Hurst Edition" WS6 Ram Air Trans Am 6 speed which now is getting up there in age and milage(@125,000) and the nickle and diming has started. With Pontiac gone (travesty in itself....I won't vent here about it tho) Corvette is the only obvious choice, so I'm looking into C5 6 speed Corvettes - FRC, Z06 or Convertibles preferrably.
Had 1985 C4 which I loved, so it's time for the next Gen!
Thanks for al the warm welcomes, I can tell already that this is a good community. Spent most of last night scouring the web and am finding that the trend seems to be right around $15,000 for 99 FRCs or 2000 Z06 cars with approx 65-80 thousand miles......so I think that's the direction I'm gonna take. Unless an 02 pops up unexpectedly.
