Hi guys and gals,
Well I finally did it. Went out and bought a 95 coupe, dark red metallic. Being from Minnesota, I was able to get some miles on it before tucking it away for the winter. Can't wait until spring.
At 52yoa, I thought that when I retire (someday) I would use some of my retirement money to buy a newer vette-something I've always dreamed about. But as you know, tomorrow is not guaranteed so I got into something I could afford now and I love it. I think my wife likes it more than I.
I do have 2 questions though.
-the front end and hood have some minor rock chips/dings and the outside mirrors have minor scrapes--do I get it painted or leave it original?
And lastly, how do I get this smile off my face? Thx. Be safe!

Welcome to the Forum! I went to the local body shops and they all wanted to paint my hood for rock chips. The hood was perfect except for the chips and they wanted $1,000 to do it.
I do not know about where you live, but out here in Ventura, Ca, we have a guy with a team that specializes in minor boo boos I was talking to a guy at the Red Line Corvette Club about the rock chips. He told me about a guy who specialized in them. I was a little nervous until I found out he also did it for the local auto mall.
I had a number of rock chips and two scratches that were two inches long on the front and back fenders. I offered him the bottle of factory paint and he turned it down. He said he likes to mix his own paint to match the car, as factory paint never matches a car that has been in the sun.
When I picked up the car we could not see the repairs. I was very pleased. This might be a solution to your problem.
