New, long-winded C6 owner in TN
Well, not NEW, but new to ME. But it's my very first Corvette...A Yellow '08 C6...a ZHZ to be exact. Yep, I bought one of the limited edition Hertz rentals. Just got it back from inspection and signed the papers this afternoon.
I've been lurking for a bit and I know what most of you think about them, but I know there's at least one other happy ZHZ owner here. But as of this afternoon, it passed a full GM certification inspection with flying colors, including my personally required compression and leak-down tests. No blow-by and all cylinders are solidly within just a lb. or two of psi.
The dealer noted that the only problem with this car was scuffs on the removable top from where others hadn't stowed it correctly when they removed it.
And since I'm plan on buffing, barring, and waxing the first sunny day I get, those scuffs are a moot point. Everything else is in otherwise great condition.
I also requested the Hertz service records and all maintenance was done according to schedule or before. Even the brake pads and trans fluid was changed at 10K. Can't speak for their regular cars, but I'm told that they take VERY good care of their high-end cars.
I'd have LOVED a C6Z, but price points are still a touch too high for my liking. I'll save the extra $15K and put it in mods in increments.
I do LOVE the ZHZ so far though. Dual mode exhaust, carbon fiber dash, F55 ride control...and I really like the paddle shift A6 after getting used to its' timing a bit. Almost all the goodness of the C6Z, except the LS7...though even that may change.
First up...HUD install. Next, I dunno. Probably the F1 shifter mod. I'm just used to right being up and left being down.
I'd really like to beef up the A6 trans before I went adding any power-adders. Any suggestions? Looking VERY hard at the STS Twin Turbo kit for LS3, a ProCharger setup, stroking the LS3, or LS7 crate motor. Can't decide. Though I'm leaning more towards keeping it N/A, forced induction would help in the high altitudes I plan on racing this car in.
Anyway, somebody stop me. I'm just so freakin' excited. I'm gonna go sit in the car for a while now. LOL!
