I’d been looking for "my" car for almost 1 year, and I finally found a 2006 VY Z51 Corvette Coupe on Auto trader, loaded, with glass top, 6 spd auto (so my wife could drive it occasionally) low mileage, Nav system and every other bell and whistle available.
I flew down to Dayton, by myself, got in at 5:30 pm, where the dealership picked me up and brought me to meet my new baby in St. Mary’s OH. After going over all the gadgets, I left the dealership at 7pm, and drove until 12:30am, stopping in Erie PA, and after a quick shower, made my way to the Casino. I got to bed at 3:30, and back on the road at 7am. I drove all day, stopping in Bangor Maine at 10:30 pm. I made it over into Canada from Calais at noon the next day. All I can say is…WOW! That car is a true highway cruiser, and it loves the open highways. It was the best 22 hours on the road that I have ever spent in a vehicle.
It was almost anti climatic to cross the border, knowing that my road trip was almost at it’s end, but I plan on many more pleasure trips in the future, sitting behind the wheel of this American sports car. I’ve had sports car in the past, but this is the fastest, best handling vehicle that I have ever driven. It’s a joy to be an owner of a C6 Corvette. I personally love the new styling with the European style headlights.
My 21 year old son had it out for a 3hr cruise with his GF, and this is what he said...Dad….you sure get a lot of looks when your driving that car, and it handles like a come true dream.
BTW, I’m glad I found this forum. The information and how-to's that I have found about the C6 and some of their little issues has been fantastic. The members are very helpful to anyone that has questions, etc. I’m just glad to be a new member of the forum.
Thanks to all
Paul

Good story! Welcome to the Forum!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations on your C6!! Didn't know Canada allowed LOUD colors like VY. j/k. Hope you enjoy the car and the Forums.
BullMarket, learning to wave at all the vettes on the highway was the first thing I learned on my initial reading in the forum.. We are all vette crazy, so just smile and wave boys..and girls...smile and wave
Rick T... I did have to get special consideration to bring in the loud color into the country, but after lot's of debate, the panel did admit that it could easily be seen in snow little did they know, this vette will never ever come in contact with snow. It will have a nice comfy perch from Nov 1-April 1.
