Hey everyone, I am new to the forum and a corvette virgin. I just bought a (slightly) used 2009 Cyber Grey Z06 (only 1600 miles on it) and so far so good. I have a lot to learn about driving and am planning to attend the Bondurant Racing School with my GF this December (PLEASE comment if you have ANY opinions on this...).
My racing experience is limited to motorcycles (road racing) and I have been lucky enough to ride most of the more famous tracks across the US (and a number of less famous ones which I found to be as fun or even more fun than the big name tracks like VIR, Mid Ohio, Laguna Seca or Sears Point). IMHO, there is no such thing as a bad track - just some better than others... I still have a couple of race bikes and I still do track days, but no more MC racing for me. I also enjoy dirt bike riding and I built a private moto track on my ranch over looking the San Francisco Bay.
Now that I am old and have lots of metal in my legs, I figured I should pick a safer hobby (hence the Z06). I am just now learning how to drive this thing, and I have to say it is very exciting.
I have a lot to learn - indeed everything to learn because I have zero four wheel racing experience. My car (with me behind the wheel...) over steers badly, is twitchy and is very hard for me to pick up the throttle when I want. It seems like I have to wait forever to get into the throttle and I always feel like I am on cold tires (well, I am on the OEM runflats.........) and driving in snow. So let the learning begin!
Anyway, I look forward to chatting with you all, and if anyone belongs to track clubs or track day organizations in Northern California, PLEASE ping me.
Welcome to the Forum and congratulations on your new Corvette
I think you're on the right "track" to get some professional driver training on that speedy car, whether you plan on racing it or not

Welcome to the Forum!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations on your new Z!! Enjoy the car and the Forums.
Have you heard of Spring Mountain Driving School in Pahrump, Nevada? They are a Supporting Vendor here and have a great program using mostly Corvettes. All reviews around here have been glowing. Anyway, here's a review thread from earlier this year and the vendor posted at the end:

Thanks for the advice Rick. I will put this on my calendar for next year. I signed up for NCRC (#4046) this weekend and plan to do as many events as my schedule will allow. I will let you know when I make it to Pahrump.
