A few months ago my son Chad (21) was killed in a bad motorcycle accident . . . well, needless to say Dad has inherited a 2003 Z06 and a 2009 Suzuki GSXR 750. The bike has been restored to new as the damage was not significant because he slid into a bridge railing and thown about 100 feet below onto Hwy 59 in Houston. The bike never was laid down, just ran down the gaurde rail a few feet and stopped standing up. He survived 9 days before being declared "Brain Dead". He donated many of his organs so others can live a full life. So I will probably sell the bike as I do not have any desire to drive a modified 750 to go 190 mph+ or mid to high 9's at uppper 140's in the quarter.
However; there is this Z06, well the payoff wasn't too bad but it needed a lot of work to become civilized again . . . new tranny, ABS, Traction Control, Brakes, completely missing skid plate, buy decent tires and get rid of the slicks, etc., etc. . . . well, we're in it now for $32k and haven't drivrn it yet. It's a Black on Black commenmorative edition or Anniversary, I haven't seen it for three months. It has a tune, different intake, ram induction, long tube headers, no cats and the loudest exhaust I have ever hear. I could truely hear chad coming 8-10 blocks away.
I miss my son horribly and I AN BROKEN-HEARTED, but hopefully having his pride and joy will somehow make me feel better even now that he must ride in the passenger seat.
I am thrilled to be a part of your forum and hope to be able to bring a bit of Gear-head knowledge to the table, as I have been driving for 43 years now and shoould probably also be dead from some of the stuff I did when I was a young man.

Welcome to the Forum but so very sorry about your Son I can't imagine how it would feel to lose my son like that. I think you'll be glad you kept his Z because it was a part of him. My son had a Camaro SS and it was the loudest street car around and would rattle the windows when he started it in the driveway, so I know about that 8 to ten block exhaust. My prayers to you and your family.
Is the wave like the secret wave the Harley riders do between themselves. By this. do I mean do Corvette owners have a certain wave, or when you pull up next to one at the light, do you not look, or casually look and give your head the one nod up, giving recognition and approval.
Mopar-mike - still waiting to get my son's Z06 from the shop so I can start enjoying it. He only let me drive it once. he said, "Pass me on the entrance ramp to the freeway and really get on it so I can hear and see how it looks. Well, as I blew by him, busting the tires loose through 4 gears and entered the freeway around 130mph, he said, "WOW! it's REALLY loud and RUNS!" He never offered to let me drive it again . . . ;0) Well, in his passing, it has now become mine and I will probably enjoy it just as hard as he did, only I will take care of it and repair / replace things immediately as needed, unlike him, only drove the **** out of it and never fixed anything. That is why I have an $18k repair bill to get it back to top notch, safe, road worthy condition.
