Hello Everyone,

My name is Frank!

I just purchased a 2006 Monterey Red C6 w/ Z51 Package. I have owned muscle cars my whole life and i just absoultely love this Vette. I recently sold my 2004 Competition Orange SVT Cobra to purchase the Corvette.

Two completely different cars... The Cobra was much faster but the Corvettes handling and quality over all is superior and of course still hauls butt...

I retired from the US Army in 2005 after 24 years...now a DoD Civilian still working for the US Army at Fort Knox, KY.

I have been wanting a Corvette my whole life and now i got my first. Hopefully someday the Big Z06!

Well, my first noobish question: Just realized that the Corvette doesn't have a spare tire or jack...lol. Any suggestion- just encase a flat in the future? ANy specific spare I should have at Home!

Sorry for the long post...lol Nice to meet you all...

Welcome to the Forum!!!!!!!!! Congratulations on your C6!! Hope to see you in C6 General. Enjoy the car and the Forums.

Thank you for your service!

C6's don't have spares or jacks because they come with runflat tires. Unless your car has been switched over to standard tires you need not worry about it. If you get a puncture in a runflat you can go 50 miles with not much loss of feel or safety. Then, in most cases, you will probably have to buy a new tire. If you don't have to drive very far on the flat and the puncture is in the center 1/3 of the tread it can probably be repaired with a plug by a knowledgeable tire service. If the puncture is outside the center 1/3 of tread it gets iffy....if it's anywhere near the sidewall the tire is toast.

The car has Goodyear F1 Super's on it still....I'm guessing this are the original tire! So they should be run flats.

Yup. You're good to go.

Keep an eye on front tire wear. The Z51 F1 Supercars start out with 2/32" less tread depth than the standard Vette tires. The factory alignment settings are heavy on negative camber which prematurely wears the inside edges of the front tires. If you happen to get an alignment in the future be sure to find a really good shop with the latest equipment and a technician who knows Vettes and won't be "practicing" on your car. Talk to him about setting the camber closer to 0 degrees, like maybe -.10 to -.20 degrees instead of the standard -.45.
