I have acess to a 95 LT1 that i would like to put into my 81. The LT1 has the PCM and harness. Can these be connected to the 350 turbo or will I need to find a 4L60E transmission? Anything I need to be careful of before starting the swap?
I put a 96 LT1 into a 93 Chevy P/u, no big deal, you can do the 700r4
or 350 or 400.
Painless has a ready harness all marked, easy to do!!!
Welcome aboard

Thank you all for the greatings. I did take a look at the threads and there is quite a bit of information on this subject. I also left an email with Painless to see what they have to connect the LT1 to the 350 trny. This is definately a bigger project then i thought. Looks like I will need to add a fuel pump in the gas tank, I am guessing a 82 tank sensor will work with a different pump. I also have a concern with the ac compressor hitting the chassis. I have seen where some people notched the chassis, and others switched all the brackets on the front.
I will try to get a picture of my car posted soon; if i can figure out how to do it. This 81 has the front and rear of a 59 grafted on; not a kit. Still has a T top and a removeable convertible from the t top to trunk. Trunk is just the gas tank since the 81 tank is still in its original position.
