I'm a new member and actually don't own a Corvette myself. My older brother owns a '66 Roadster that we've enjoyed in many ways, from a Body-On Restoration in 1980-1982, to many Rod Runs and car shows and just some cruising over these past 25+ years.
I got to drive the Corvette on our annual trip to the Rod Run To The End of The World in Long Beach/Ocean Park, WA this past September. My brother has been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor and isn't supposed to drive and didn't want to be driving the Corvette, under those conditions, so I drove. It was the first time I ever drove it, other than to move it in the driveway or something. It was GREAT!!!
He's now forced into a position of having to sell the Corvette. He can't and may not ever again be able to work and will need money to live on for what time there is left. I'd love to be in a position to buy the car from him myself, with the hope of keeping "The Tradition" alive in his memory. Unfortunately, I'm not in that position and so since he's not Internet-Connected, I've been researching the VIN number/Body Tag information and trying to get an idea what the car is worth. I want him to get a "Fair Price" for the car. He's put a ton of time and sweat into it over the years, enjoyed it a lot and he deserves me giving due diligence to getting a decent price for it.
Sorry about your brother being diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor. Wishing you all the best to you and your family. With all the good times the you and your brother had with the '66 Roadster, it's a shame you will not able to keep it in the family.
