I think my time has finally come. I'm 62 and have actually talked the wifey into considering a Corvette as a retirement toy. Just kindly direct me to a thread where I can get info on what to buy. I've done the high-performance thing as a youth so I'm looking for a C4 or C5 that has all the creature comforts and is eye-catching "purdy" for the wifey. We're looking for smooth and easy on the budget - perhaps a removable top or convertible with an automatic would be nice. Where do I start?

Welcome aboard and good luck in your search for a Corvette. I would start by reading threads in the C4 & C5 Sections. Ask your questions there as that is where the most experience is located.
Welcome to the forum! I agree with TN, check the C4 and C5 sections of the forum to do a little research as to which one better fits your needs and budget. Good luck with the search, and let us all know what you decide on!

Good advice as usual. Just don't get in a hurry and buy a car that you really don't want.
