I don't know if this is proper if not the mods can delete it. As many of you know, one of our finest members, Dave Hopper aka Rolling Thunder is close to going home to be with Jesus He has never complained about his illness and has continued to share his build with everyone. I am sure he would love to hear from forum members that have appreciated his help and efforts in the past.

I just figured that out when I read his post in Ryan's thread here. Prayers for a safe and pain free journey Dave. I don't know you but you sound like a brave and caring person just like Ryan and my beloved s/o I lost earlier this year

Our dear friend, and brother in Christ, has gone home to the Lord

No more physical suffering here on Earth, and a celebration when he entered the gates of Heaven.

I had the honor of meeting Dave and his daughter, Mylinda on my first trip to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in December 2003, where the forum raised over $23,000 for the children in just two months.

It didn't take long to realize that Dave was a great man, and a wonderful father. He was a very sincere and gentle man, and so proud of his daughters.

While he will be missed on Earth by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, we must all remember that we will see him again.

RIP brother Dave, and as promised, here is the cyber hug you wanted me to give to your daughters:

We pray that Dave's family and friends will find some solace in their memory of good times spent with Dave.

Dave, you left us much too soon.

We commend to God the soul of our Corvette brother.

Dave while we will all miss reading your posts the inspiration you have given us will live on forever. Some how I know you're looking down on us and smiling. Thanks for your friendship.

As long as there are Corvettes there will always be "CUSTOM" Corvettes but there will only be one "Rolling Thunder". God bless you my friend.

Wow, I was just over at Dave's house last week. I worked with him a few years back at Walkers. He lived 2 streets behind me and I never knew it until a couple of weeks ago. He looked weak when I was there but he said he was ready to go. He said he thought he only had a month or so left. He said he knew where he was going and he was ready to go see his parents. I hate to hear that he has passed but at least he is at peace now.

Dave, thank you for your service to our country and our hobby. I will drink one for you tonight.

I've visited Dave's website and had sent a message, hopefully, of comfort earlier. He was a brave man, a good Christian, and a fine, loyal American. I shed a tear and mourn his passing. My deepest sympathies to his family, his daughters and his grandchildren and am glad our country can still find these wonderful patriots. May we always be worthy of them.

Welcome home, Bro'...may your spirit rest with God and your brothers and sisters.

Reverently,

Harry, 2Lt, USAFR(ret)

PS-I shall have a drink in your honor...Godspeed.

I too shed a tear at Daves passing. I have only known him a couple months but he was an easy person to like and get close to. Shannanl, he was really glad when he found out how close you lived by him, I am sure your visits meant a lot to him. I told him Jesus was calling him home because He wanted Dave to build Him a C3 like RT.
You will be sorely missed my friend,
