A while back through Durango boy,I asked for the prayers of all the good folks on this forum.
They helped and were greatly appreciated!
But,with a heavy heart I must now say that My beloved Sister
Mavis Montine Layton Eberhart (we called her Monnie),passed away at 4:00am this morning.
She vitually raised me,as my Mother and Father were the Nuclear Family.and Both worked.
She would get so upset, she told me, when strangers would tell her "are'nt you too young to have a baby"?
"Excuse me" she's say, like a tart little 15 year old,"i'll have you know this is my Brother" Then up went the nose and she'd storm off with me in tow.
She is the reason I wanted a vette, and I was hoping to get it done and take it to her before the end,but i was'nt to be.
Now whenevr it is done,it will be in Honor of Her.
Rest in Peace sis,We all love you.Steve

Thank you for the replies,I appreciate the sentiment.
I lost my Dad in 92,Brother in 95,Mom in 99,Bros in law in 00,and every loss is hard, but ...Sis,well you know.
I originally puposely did'nt read this sticky sect.feeling it was almost inviting misery if i did,but I did and tahts that. All of the story's in here are incredibly sad,and at the same time uplifting. There is love, and very good people lost, and living.
I don't care who passes,it hurts, and the Love we feel is the same.
I had to say something about her though there is not enough space in this computer to hold all of it,but at least in some miniscule way I paid Homage to her.
She did by the way get me into corvettes, and if I could ever find her orig.68 vert, don't you know i would mortgage my eye teeth to get it.
I thank you all that replied, all that prayed for her when this started,i know she's in a better place.
I would also like to throw a shout out to a past star, that i had written to ask that he phone her(she was a Fan) and that is Mr.Pat Boone. ( 50's crooner)and star of a few movies.
Anyway, although he did not get to call in time,as the moment came so suddenly,he did try twice, and if calling a completely unknown person at the behest of another completely unknown person is'nt enough,he called me and apologized for not having been successful. We talked for a bit,and I want everyone to know that I am forever grateful to him,a very nice man.
I consider his deed the mark of a true gentleman and a wonderful christian.
Life calls and I must return to work tomorrow, besides I have to earn more money for vette parts.Like I said,it's dedicated now to sis.
Thank's all, Steve
It is never easy, but thankfully it sounds like you have good memories that will in time be what you think of most, rather than this time while you grieve for your sister. I lost my dad at the young age of 57 twenty years ago this week, and while I think of him very often regretting that he is not with us, I almost always think "dad would have loved this or whatever" - always bringing a smile to my face.
My thoughts and prayers are with you - hang in there! Maybe you will have your car done in time to make the Museum event in September? Rack up some fun miles with your memories of her...

I`ts always been said but rarely believed, tomorrow is not guaranteed
Like you, I understand this now
I'm by yet another loss of your dear family member Monnie. Keep the spirit up my friend. And someday when the time is right, start your research on that 68 Vert. Had a 68 NB Vert 427/390 btw.
Sure would be nice for you to be able to locate it in memory of Monnie. Start with VIN in last known state.
And do a VIN # post on C3 discussion.
