Default Bob McClure, just over a year.

Hi everyone,

Very nice area to post the passing of those who are dedicated the the Corvette.

I very good life long friend at least for the last 39 years, and local racing ledgend Robert Emery McClure II. Bob to his friends, Mr. McClure for me passed on October 20, 2007.
Mr. Mclure passed on to that big race track in the sky in the moring of October 20, 2007 surrounded by friends and famliy. Somewhere I hoped during the past year that there would be something written someplace by somebody. I guess that will be me.

Bob started his racing endevors in 1966 after his Corvette was stolen from what he told me. It was found striped so he made a racer out of it.
He raced with the likes of Don Yenko, Donna Mae, Dave Hines and many others. Bob was an true Corvette enthusiast. Bob raced at all the major tracks on the East and West coasts, and competed in hill Climb competions too. His MAN ROOM as it would be refered to today had walls filled full of trophies, plaques, and pictures. Bob was named GM driver of the year in the early 70's. Bob and Dave Hines are in the record books at Daytona in 1973.
He was a pilot, scuba diver, and rode alot of motor cycles too. Bob lived life to the fullest his motto " My tastes are simple I only want the best" sums up his life.

Bob passed due to complications after auto an accident in April of 2007.

May he be leading a race in the heavens today.

Bob, was a rep for Liberty Mutual insurance Co. and sold me my insurance on my first Vette in 1964. ( I have had 53 since then with liberty Mutual ) He was into racing and he and Don Yenko were pretty tight and help start the Steeltown Corvette Club to which I belonged. He had his race Vette stolen in Cleveland and he had a 1994 Vette in 2000 and bought an exhaust from me. His card said "he would do anything for money"

Garys05vette,

In fact the Corvette Bob owned in 2000 is a black 1993. It now resides in my garage it was purchased from him in 2005 just after he bought the C6.
I too had my Ins with Bob.
I'm hoping that someone in the Corvette world may read this, contact his widow and possibly write a short story on Bob and his Corvette endevors.
