Many of you know that every year when I come to the Cruisein, I take a few days and drive up to see my folks in Louisville. Last Monday night, my Mom passed away at the age of 81 after a long fight with Alzheimer's and congestive heart failure.
She always humored me with my Corvette hobby, even rode in several of my cars although they terrified her at "normal" speeds.
The comment I will never forget came when I drove the Snowmobile to their house after bringing it back from ARE in Toronto. I had to put pieces of firewood in their gutter to get in the driveway and after she watched me drive in, she said "all that money, and it won't even go in the driveway and doesn't sound like it runs right."
My folks were married for 60 years. If my Dad is still living next year at Cruisein time, I will find a way to get him down there for the drag races.
Blessings on you Mom and rest. Your journey is done.
My condolences to you on the loss of your Mom, Doug.
She sounds like she was a very pragmatic lady. And she was right about your ARE motor!
Nothing will ever be the same with her gone, but I know you'll remember the good times and will find some peace in knowing she is free from her battle with Alzheimer's.

Doug,
Great story about your mother riding in your Corvette. My mother was always afraid to ride in my Corvettes as well. But, she loved to fly with me, she was fascinated by the entire process.
Yes, we will bring dad down to BG for the drags. You can get him in my 61 so he is not only comfortable but in style.
