My dad passed last Saturday of old age. He was 100 and then some. His loving generosity was behind my becoming a Corvette owner at the tender age of 16. He needed the car like I need the fire ants in my back yard. He bought it because he knew how much I craved it. Dad let me drive it home from the dealership. All the way up Greenbay Rd from Winnetka, IL to Highland Park, IL. I'll bet folks went blind from the reflection of the sun on my teeth because I was grinning so much. I think my dad drove the car all of two times. He just wasn't in to the sun in your face thing on the highway. Needless to say, the beat goes on. I'm now on my sixth Corvette. Thank you Dad. Your loving son, Michael

I'm sorry for your loss Mike. Getting to 100 is a life well lived.

Do you have any pictures of your father you could post?

The pictures are on the laptop that in sympathy, crashed just after his funeral. It is at the repair center and I'm using a new one I just bought at Best Buy. Thankfully, it wasn't the hard drive so I should get everything back in one piece.

Sorry to hear that, but he had great long life lived well I'm sure.

BTW, What kind of doc was he/what was his area of specialization?

MikeyTX,

My father too was a doctor and my mother a nurse. He too was a car enthusiast. He was a diplomat with WHO and I got to see the world and ride in cars that I thought I could only enjoy in magazines.

Sadly, we lost him early. I'm so sorry for your loss but I bet your dad led a full life. My condolences.

Rene'

Writing this out has been the best stress relief I could have found. Now I get to commute to Chicago from TX to keep check on my 98 yr old mother. This is going to become interesting.

I'm sorry for the passing of your father.
Count all your blessings for having him for such a long life. My Dad didn't live half as long as yours

What a great dad, you're blessed to have had him until 100

My dad died in 2001 at 81. Unfortunately my father didn't have the resources to buy a Corvette for his son, but he did help me buy a beautiful '71 Olds Cutlass convertible. We had a ton of fun in that car plus I could take three friends with me. Cars are a great way for fathers and sons to bond
