Default John Fleming "Jack78"

For the oldtimers here......

I never got to meet John in person but chatted with him online quite a lot. He suffered a brain aneurism that ruptured on a business trip and was taken from us too soon. Jack78

It was a beautiful fall day at the beach, Sept. 29, 2001, when a group of Forum members gathered at Gulf Shores for a Poker Run organized by the Forum participant formerly known as CathDoc.

We had a large time and it gave us a chance to meet and associate a face with some of the Forum friends we'd never met before -- people we knew only by their screen names.

John "Jack" Fleming was with us that day in his two-tone shark coupe. He was a lot of fun to be around and spending the day with Jack78 and the others in our convivial group.

Since Val was the organizer, Hooters played a central role in the event. We started at Hooters the afternoon before the poker run and we ended up at Hooters after collecting cards at Hooters locations from Pensacola Beach to Mobile and everywhere in between.

Here's a picture I took of Jack, who sat just to my left at the Hooters at Orange Beach as we checked our cards to see who our winner was going to be:

It didn't dawn on me or anyone else in the group that it would be the last time we'd see Jack. Less than six months later, he was strcken with an aneurism and was gone.

Why is it almost always that the good and the innocent are the ones that go first????

I remember Jack! In fact, I made those static cling stickers for the Stars and Stripes Tour. He was a class act and a nice guy. He contacted me when I became the GA State Coordinator and he let me know that he had gotten an extra flag and he would get it to me so I could use it for some events here before the start of the Tour.

My heart broke when he passed away and from the kick-off of the GA leg of the tour I handed out those stickers to everyone who wanted one until I was out of them.

When I sold my 99 Coupe, I asked Mickbee to leave the sticker on and he did!

RIP, Jack78! Thanks again and I hope you're enjoying heaven!

Here's a salute to John Fleming - a man who experienced much of what life has to offer & left this earth far too soon.

I'm missing Jack very much today and wanted to stop in to see this post again. It's hard to believe it's been so many years. Jack, I hope you're having fun wherever you are, and are still watching over us.
