Default And now we have to endure loud pop-ups?

So I'm enjoying my morning Corvette Forum reading and posting. The sun is just rising. The house is quiet and you can hear the birds outside greeting the dawn when all of a sudden

THERE IS A SUPER LOUD AUDIO POP UP COVERING THE SCREEN AND DEMANDING THAT I LISTEN TO AN AD FOR POLARIS ATVS!!!

Enough is friggin' enough. I know you have to make money but this certainly isn't the way. Good-bye for today you idiots who don't know the difference between making a site profitable and destroying your site by running off your "customers".

FortMorgan, Corvetteforum doesn't put any pop-up ads on the site. We occasionally learn that a third-party has failed to follow our guidelines and has put a pop-up ad in space they have bought and re-sold.

We can demand that the offending ads be removed, but we have to track them down by knowing the click-through URL on them. Alternately, having a screen capture would be a big help.

Help us help you on issues such as this.

Thank you for the polite response to my obviously rude comments but I wanted to make sure I got your attention since this ad was WAY over the top. It was a movie with high volume sound for Polaris ATVs. I will let you know the details if it reappears but, if no one else has complained then I have to wonder if it will because I would think anyone would complain about this one.

Wow loud popups. That would be the last thing that would probably bother me.

For years I have turned off the speakers and only turn them on if there is something I want to hear. Then back off again!

Thanks, I'll ask the IB tech folks to take a look.

BTW ... heard on the news last night that Fort Morgan was going to close because they anticipated the road would flood from the heavy rain.

Hope you're on high ground and don't get stranded.

Thanks. They were going to close the road to Fort Pickens not Fort Morgan. They had 9" of rain in Pensacola. We only had just under 7" in my rain gauge in 36 hours. But it isn't the rain that was the real issue. The Gulf can handle a lot of rain without getting too much deeper. The issue for Fort Pickens was waves from the Gulf. We lost the big sand dunes due to Ivan in 2004 and they still haven't grown back so the water can just roll in a lot farther when there is a strong south wind. The Fort Pickens road wasn't built back up high enough after it washed out in 2004. The Fort Morgan road has never been closed due to water. Downed trees and 15 foot high piles of hurricane debris but not just a little water.

I was watching Mobile news, so guess I was half asleep and got the wrong fort. We had the same situation with Ivan. Lost the huge dunes, particularly between Fort Walton and Destin and Hwy. 98 was washed out.

They fixed the road and restored the beach, but not the dunes. On several of the subsequent storms, the highway has partially flooded. Yesterday, flooding from the rain, not storm surge, washed out a section of Hwy. 30-A in South Walton County.

Browsing on mobile I will get a picture pop up. It freezes the phone for a few seconds. I have to zoom way out, pan to the picture and close it.. pretty annoying when its every other click. One is a panteen shampoo ad, another is cts ad, and some atv ad.

Inland there were a lot of issues with flash flooding and we seem to get country roads washed out quite often. But here on "Paradise Island" rain is mostly just a nuisance. Back at the height of the real estate boom a developer built a subdivision in the swamp. That flooded every time it rained but even that area is now dry after the city bought a bunch of houses (Court ruled they should never have approved the building permits) and built a new drainage ditch. This year, however has been VERY wet. The 56" that Pensacola has gotten so far this year and the 13" last weekend would not be tolerated well by most of the country. I remember Danny back in '97. About 35" of rain in 24 hours but still no problems from water near the coast. 10 miles inland was a very different story.

Now, back on topic, D@&* Jelly Belly came up again! I have popups turned off for almost everywhere else I go. I wish I could turn off pop-up for Corvette Forum but you use popups for entering links.

Screen, couldn't get the link to go with it! With these pop ups my phone (SG3) becomes very sluggish. PITA to even find the X and close the image.

And yesterday I get a pop-up asking me if I want to fill out a satisfaction survey for the site and make suggestions. You really want me to tell you where I think you should put your fricken' pop-up surveys? I'll be glad to tell you.

And just as soon as I entered the above I get this from http://info.evidon.com/more_info/546?cps[546]=cm

Really nice IB. You're going to irritate us and block our access to your site until we acknowledge your ads but we can opt out of having the ads specific to our interests. Are you people in marketing ALL idiots?

Thanks for the screen caps and URLs. Once again, I'll pass them along to IB.

The feedback I'm getting is that this has been reported numerous times and we're being told it is fixed.

I'm told you shouldn't be seeing anything like this if you are signed in, but might see content like this if you are not signed in.

Please advise.

I am never NOT signed in. Hint: If I'm leaving a message that says I just received a pop-up after leaving a message, I'm signed in, right?

Makes sense to me and I'll pass it along to the folks at IB. Is this your experience on an iPhone or iPad or on a desktop or laptop?
