Why does it add 2 pictures to my post when I only post one ?
Forum:
This just started today. It never has done this to me before.
So as normal I create a link to my picture.
I submit new thread.
I can see my picture in the thread, but at the bottom of my post it has an "ATTACHED IMAGES" showing as well. How do I get rid of this second picture showing up ?
If I go into edit my picture link, I find that the link has changed like it uploaded the picture to the Corvette forum site. Its not pulling from my web site anymore. Corvette Forum has uploaded the pic of my web site and is hosting from Corvette Forum now.
Why did this change ? I did not change my settings at all.
Thanks !

Just noticed it too......
It seems to be adding it as an attachment instead of just a linked image.

Just tried posting a pic in the Help section and did the same thing; used IMG tags for a pic from PhotoBucket and also got an Attached Image" pic.
This must be some global deal as the Attachment feature is supposed to be only for supporting members.

It's doing it for a vendor, too.

It's a newly installed product that snapshots linked photos and saves them as an Attachment to CorvetteForum's database. The purpose for this is so that the photos aren't lost - which is a common problem when photos are hosted offsite and linked.

Can you save them but only show one photo instead of two?

so are these duplicate images something that we are going to have to deal with now?

I would prefer the second picture not be there. If I'm writing a procedure here its going to take an already long post and make it HUGE !

The easiest fix in my opinion may be to allow everybody to add pictures via attachment instead of using the [IMG] method. It seems kind of redundant to not enable the attachment feature for all users yet have the site do it automatically and end up with duplicate images on the pages. If the current scenario is the way things will be moving forward, it will effectively increase the bandwidth usage of the site due to duplicate images or twice the image bandwidth for each [IMG]/attachment. Of course, this is assuming that you can't eliminate the attachment image from being displayed in conjunction with the [IMG] image.

As Jim said, the issue with the duplicate images is being investigated. Normally, you get a thumbnail in the Attachment area and then a fuller version in the body of the post. But since CorvetteForum doesn't use thumbnails, we're seeing two, full, images instead.
Regarding the suggestion with the Attachments and the need for this product, I think this product will still have usage. It's not uncommon for members to belong to multiple forums and share the same content. Those who prefer to share images from services like PhotoBucket would probably find it much easier to simply copy/paste the IMG tags to different forums than uploading them to each forum. Some just prefer using services that are specifically for sharing. Therefore, this product will still have some usage.

I'm often on the road working from a travel laptop. Having duplicates really makes it a pain to read things.
Hopefully the "thumbnail" solution works or this wonderful new software is kicked to the curb.
