Default Got a wierd phone call today, says he was a CF representative. Any ideas?

So, I was sitting at lunch today and recieved a phone call from a BLOCKED ID. Answered it with hello and was asked if I was Overboosted on CF. I replied yes, and I was told there was some suspicous activity on my account and the phone call was disconnected.

I guess what I am asking is who would call me and ask a question like that? And if this was a phishing attempt, what do I need to do to ensure my account is protected other than changing my current Password?

I did not give out any personal information other than confirming my first name and username.

Any ideas or input would be much appreciated as this is somewhat disturbing. I was never able to ask any questions as the phone call was ended prematurely.

Best Regards,

Patrick

Well Pat I just looked at your profile and you give out a lot of info. Looks like it would not have been hard to “run you down” I do not have a C5 anymore so I do not read any post there, so do not know what you gave out there.

I do not give out my name or any info that pins me down near as close as you do.

Best bet you ran into a prankster from here!

I guess the main reason I have so much information is for the classifieds. It is looked down upon if you don't list all your info, and rightfully so.

Of course when they knew my name and username I felt that was enough information, but then the call ended. I am very skeptical about anything dealing with my passwords or finances. So, I feel that I did not give them anything they couldn't have already had access to.

I was thinking it was possibly a prank call as well. But, I was curious to know who would make that type of call if it were official. As always I appreciate the help!

Jim (Savewave) and his staff moderate the forums. If such an official call existed, it would most likely come from Jim or perhaps another administrator.

However, that's an if. I would think, most likely, you would have been sent a PM or email and "CF Representative" wouldn't be used. That's just my take. Talk to Jim (Savewave) as he knows just about everything that goes on.
