Default Having trouble with CF locking up, etc?

I've been having alot of locking up, jittery cursor, very slow loading, lines duplicating themselves, blank pages, etc. Has any one else had similar problems. I'm at wits end. Somethimes it works OK. I've reloaded AOL, run Norton A/V, Ad-adware, Advance System Care, defrag, disk cleanup, and it still messes up. I know that all the problems started when Brands took over, it was fine before that. Please any comments. Thanks!

Subjects like this need to be posted in the "Help Section". If you need help, that is where you will get it. Posting here does no good and your thread will soon be locked.

Now that's cold. True but still cold.

No such problems here in the past 6 months. A jittery cursor is almost always a sign of a computer that is way overloaded. Too little memory and too many add-on will do that.

you have some serious problems

1.AOL - full of stuff you don't want
2.Norton - pig on resources
3.Ad-adware - slows your computer

Get rid of the above, install AVG as your A/V

Sounds like your computer could use a complete reload. good luck

To be honest, I would concur with the above. Norton is quite a resource hog and using AOL as the browser comes with it's own set of issues.

You mentioned a jittery cursor and lines duplicating themselves (among other things). Those two things specifically stick out as a more than likely issue isolated to your environment. The forum does not control your cursor, about the only possibility is it sounds like the CPU may be pegged. And if you see lines being duplicated, that is most likely a video or software issue as that would not be an issue with this website - without getting technical.

Now, it's possible something on this website may be triggering the above issue, but it sounds like the root issue is in your environment.

Thanks guys! I played around a little more and I reloaded the BFG NVIDA drivers and things are working better, it wanted to do more current MS drivers but I used the original on the CD disk that came with the board. The cursor is better BUT a little somewhat jittery, BUT definitely better. My problem with AOL is that I have loads of "favorites" on it going back ten years. We were FORCED to get AOL to use with Merrill Lynch brokage account and it built from there. At the time AOL was best BUT NOT NOW. I'm trying to transfer the favorites to other browsers but not compatable at this point and the IT people can talk theory but not how to actually do it. Maybe you all have some ideas, I want to be able to backup in case I crash. Thanks again!

PS: I got blank dark gray screens earlier and repeating lines. We see how long this last before it crashes again. This thing acts like a ricer!

Here are some instructions for copying AOL favorites to IE:

http://help.islc.net/index.php?_m=kn...kbarticleid=73

Note that these only work for AOL 7 and under.

Here is some software you can buy that will migrate AOL 4 to 9.5 to IE:

John

I thank you so very kindly for taking the time and effort to hunt up these sites. As you probably noticed from the comments that the ePreserver is a HIT! I have almost worn myself out trying to find out how to transfer the "favorites" to other browsers. Thanks again for your help, YOU just made my day. Thanks a million!

PS: This is what I love about the CF, you can get answers to almost anything. I noticed that you are just around the corner from Keller, thanks neighbor.

John,

You are most welcome. Glad I was able to be of some help. I see that we both own Monterey Red Metallics. Small world.

Everything on AOL locks up on me. Most of the time i cant use this site on AOL, or sites hang up or lock up all together.

I have to use IE to use this site most times.

I just started getting the lines duplicating by a 1000 times when i try to use this site about 6 weeks ago using AOL. I know my computer is bogged down and plan to buy a new one soon.

Pull up MY Computer>right click>properties>disk cleanup>Tools (do errors & defrag). This might really help you.

PS: I just reloaded my Video Drivers and it solved my multiple lines and helped steady my cursor.

Pull up My Computer, then right click on your hard drive (C. The resulting dialog box should show you a pie chart with free and used space. Next to the pie chart is the Disk Cleanup button.

I do the disk clean up every week. I don't see where you can do a defrag.
