Default Adding signature pictures

How are you guys adding the pictures into the bottom of your replies?

I see that alot of the replies have what I call "signature pictures", Meaning they seem to be automatically included in the bottom of the thread. I have tried and just can't figure it out. Thank you.

Go to "User CP" in the red tool bar.

Select "Signature" and get to work.

You must host you pics somewhere, I use Photobucket.

Then you add the link to your pic with the following formula:

[img]your pic link[/img]

Like I said, GET TO WORK

As ALLEGRO said you need to host the pictures somewhere and link to them. To use the upload features (and use the forum's servers for image storage) you have to be a Premium Member.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/payments.php

The alternative is to host pictures somewhere like Photobucket and use the [IMG][/IMG] tags to link to them.

I still link most of my pictures from another site.

When you get into the User CP area, try going into the Edit Signature area and create your signature. Here's what mine looks like as an example:

2003 Electron Blue Coupe A4 (Born on 1/14/2003)

NCM Founding Member #828
20 Year NCM Member (1990-2010)
NCM Grand Opening Participant - 1994
NCM 5th Anniversary Participant - 1999
Corvette 50th Anniversary Participant - 2003
NCM 15th Anniversary Participant - 2009

Before the picture link will show, you have to bracket the link with [IMG] at the beginning and [/IMG] at the end.

There is a selection box that needs to be checked if you want to show your signature at the end of your post. You need to go into the Edit Options and click the box on Visible Post Elements, Show Signature.

You will need to find a hosting site for the pics like mentioned above: Photobucket.com or tinypic.com are good sites to use. You need to just copy the IMG link into your signature creation and the photo should load.

However, you might want to know that showing the signature used to be a very common practice here, but it seemed like people were showing their signature on every single post that they made which got to be rather . Now it is generally accepted that the need to show a signature in a post is really rather rare.

Hope you get your signature created OK. Its been a long time since I created my signature and I hope that the info above is correct.

If you still can't get it to work, try posting a request for help in the Help and Feedback section and someone will guide you through the process.

Also, what you might be seeing at the bottom of the posts is not really a signature pic but just a pic of a car that is uploaded so all can see it.

Here's the code that creates the signature I use. The * on each side of *IMG* and *URL* would be deleted in the actual signature code. The URL tags make the CORVETTEPICS.NET image a clickable link.

Why is it so difficult to attach pictures here on the Forum???
Why can't it be easy like attaching a picture to an e-mail?

It's really not that hard. You just have to learn the coding for making it all work within the framework of the forum's host site.

Just practice a bit and you will be a pro.....I promise.

Heck, I even learned how to make small pictures enlarge into big ones in my sig.

I suppose it's all a point of view. Inserting a URL and adding [IMG] tags on each end is no big deal for me.

Many people host photos on the web already so it's maybe three mouse clicks to add an image.

I have my most recent photos hosted on my own photo site at

Can you not get your CP to accept the link or image, or can you get it to accept the link and image, it just won't show on your post?

On the reply page, below the 'submit/preview' buttons, there's a section called 'miscellaneous options', make sure the 'show your signature' box is checked. Your user CP will accept the link/image and not show it on your post if this box is not checked.

Signatures (and signature pictures) are not automatically included in posts that you make to a thread. You must select the option to show the signature when you submit the post.

Moderators and forum rules have stated that you should not append your signature to your post more than once per thread.

Thank you to everyone that wrote back trying to help me out. I guess that I am not as computer literate as I thought. It's just more trouble than it's worth. I am tired of . never been so , that I want to.

At least I have figured out how to use all the little smilies.
