Default WTF is wrong with the connection to CF???

Have you guys changed servers or something at CF?? For about a month now I've got the worst connection off and on. Seems that on 'busy' hours its impossible to download your website. Surely, you'll loose a few of us Vettephiles if this doesn't get better.

My brother was having the same problem. It works fine or me, just a little slow on my other computer since it's 10 years old.

It has been a little slow lately, but I was wondering if all the bad weather might have had something to do with that.

The forum was attacked a couple of months ago and those who haven't cleared their browser's cache lately seem to be having more trouble than others.

my troubles stem from the sofware on my work computer, blocking certain parts of the javascripts that run in the backgorund. I don't have these porblems at home or on a computer not running on the work network

I have noticed over the last couple of days that some pages are slow to load to times when FF times out and gives me a "Page not found" message.

Other times I get a "Waiting for www.forums.corvetteforum" line and it can take up to 30 seconds for the new page to load. But I can click on the "Stop Page Load" button and immediately hit Refresh or the F5 key and the page loads.

I have also seen the Waiting for ..... line where it looks like some server is slow to respond. It can be a IB server, an ad server (usually ad.doubleclick), Google, and even facebook seems to occasionally hold up the loading of pages.

I'm getting the waiting message too. Doesn't seem to be consistent.

A little while ago I replied in a thread and it took about 2 minutes for it to post. By the time it came back someone had already quoted my reply.

We had an issue with our firewall late Saturday night, when it reverted, it did so using legacy programming which had issues. We fixed the issue with the firewall at 11:45am this morning (PST).
Please let me know if you are still having issues with connection reset errors.
Thanks.

Thanks.

Yeah, the delays are gone but now I'm seeing "connecting to rlcdn.com" for 30 seconds or so. What is that?

Noticed over the last 30 minutes that I get a "Connecting to rlcdn.com" and followed by "Waiting for rlcdn.com" message and it will sometimes take 30 second to a minute for that to load.

When I try to use that URL to go to that site directly, I get FF timeout screens.

This is by far the slowest loading forum site that I am a member of. I am a new guy, and really love the site and the guys on it, but they really need to upgrade. I am a member of a "mom and pop" type forum. The guy doesnt have a lot of sponsors like here. He just breaks even and upgraded his servers years ago so its fast and you can upload directly from your computer instead of photobucket which I hate. it gets so slow sometimes I just log off and dont go back till I calm down. Its that bad. And its not my computer. Ive run speed tests and checked other sites. Its the site. Frustrating

I can assure you it will speed up considerably if you switch to Firefox. Except on rare occasion lately, I can double click on the forum shortcut on my desktop and be looking at the full page of titles in 7-8 seconds. I do also have the AdBlockerPlus add-on with Firefox, so I don't lhave to wait for all those ads to load.

I'm having issues too! I had no issues whatsoever with the site until the mods gave me a two week ban. When I was re-instated, I've had nothing problems and nothing works properly. I can't use the smilies or the "my recent topic" button. None of the threads come up with the pics, etc., etc., etc., It is also unbelievably slow in loading pages. I see that when I was re-instated, some of the the below features have changed... I'm thinking this may be my problem. The HTML code is turned off????

Maybe you are on double-secret probation?
Jim, I used to have firefox and liked it till I ran into some issues with it, so went back to IE. I like that blocker feature. The ad content here definitely slows it down when loading. I am interested if other firefox users get the same results as Jim.

I see nothing unusual about your permissions that you listed below, especially HTML. HTML is turned off for all users on most forums because it is a severe security risk. That's why there's BB code. As you are not a Supporting Member, Attachments is also disabled. Therefore, the permissions you listed below are completely normal for the normal user here on CF.

As far as not being able to use smilies or the my recent topic button, that is an issue with your browser. It sounds like you have javascript disabled. Enable it. If it's not enabled, those very things will not function.

Thanks for the information J T. Makes me feel better knowing that it may be a problem on my end and not the forums. How do I enable javascript? (if it's not to hard to explain)

I appreciate your time.
