What is the correct procedure to follow for posting pictures in my garage? My files seem to be too large to upload.

If your files are too large to upload, you will need to crop and/or scale them down. You'll need a simple photo editing utility for that.

There are two popular, and free, photo editing utilities that will do the above and much more:

Gimp - http://www.gimp.org/

IrfanView - http://www.irfanview.com/

IrfanView is light and simple to use. As you only need to crop and/or scale the images down, I'd try IrfanView. You can even do batches of photos at a time.

thanks for the reply. I downloaded the IRFANView app and was able to change the pixel count. I am not sure how to crop or change the overall size of the file. The photos I am intending to upload are bit map files that are around 1.5Mb.

Can you tell me what steps or procedure I should follow to get the size down?

Thanks

Open the bit map file with either IRFANView or Paint, then "SAVE AS" a .jpg file. Upload the .jpg file instead of the .bmp file. The .jpg file will be quite a bit smaller.

Cropping is simple. Use the left mouse button to outline area, click on Edit Menu and Crop selection.

As far as BMP, as mentioned, simply save the file in JPG - JPG/JPEG Format, which is a selection under Save as type (under the file name).

Just converting them from BMP to JPG alone should count for a significant difference in file size. However, you may still need to "crop" and/or scale the images down.
