Default Sig. help

I wanted to add a couple facts to my sig. and it said I was over the 500 mark. I went back and deleted about 15 letters (didn't add anything) and saved again and it still stated I was over the mark. Didn't make sense to me??

I counted 495 without the syntax to do your sig pic. So your total character count may still be over 500.

An Administrator would need to verify, but the character limit in the signatures has two entries. One including BB markup (BB markup being code used to make your image display, for example) and one excluding BB markup.

Depending on how the forum is setup, the code used to display your image may or may not be counting toward the character limit.

...but if I take out 15 characters and don't add any or only add 14 say how can I be over the limit?

Good question for a real nerd! I don't know how that works unless what J T said has something to do with it (image separate from text).

The above is 495 characters.

You have [img ] pic [/img ] also in your sig to have the picture show up.

My hunch is 495 + # characters to make your sig > 500.

Figure out how to abbreviate some of that sig. Try deleting 8-10 char. at a time until it works.

Use SS as abbreviation for Stainless Steel.

That will get you 26 characters if you use it in both places.

So I went in and put SS for the stainless steel and that is all I did and I got this :

Your signature cannot be longer than 500 characters excluding BB code markup.

after I saved it. It did NOT change my sig. when I did this.
So at this point I can't delete anything as it stays the same??
