When I was trying to find a bud on the list I was amazed at the sheer number of members, and that alot of them hadn't been active for years. Any way the list could be edited on a time elapsed basis. It sure would help, IMHO Thanks
I would assume the original question is to remove them from the members list, and not the database. I would not believe the powers that be would ever delete any accounts in masses. Sometimes, after an extended time away, users do return and resume usage. Happens frequently.
The listings could be removed from the members lists by having a secondary usergroup that is only for accounts that haven't been active in X amount of time. Set that usergroup to not display on the members list. Have vBulletin "promote" users into that usergroup. Pretty simple. However, with the Advanced search feature in the members list, there probably is little reason to do this.
What about members who die, sell their car, buy a bicycle, lose their licence etc.. Why have all this excess garbage taking up space. Unaware of the advanced search, will try it. Thanks.

I cannot speak for the website policy, but I suspect it would be difficult to maintain. All, except death, could result in the user coming back in a few years. It would be nearly impossible to reinstate a previous account that was deleted for those cases where someone comes back or changes their mind. And what happens to their contributed content? I would suspect CF would not want to delete it, so it's then converted over to a "guest" account. I've seen it happen many times where someone leaves, planned or not, and then returns. Some, upset with moderation or site issues, claim that will never come back - but often do.
If I left for a lenghthy period of time, I would not expect to be in the data base, especially if the time period was stated on sign up. Just sayin, thats all. On the positive side, I really have fun here and appreciate the work involved. Thankyou, Forum Creaters and Caretakers.
