Default Driving from Cleveland to Dallas - which way to go based on the weather?

OK, so my '71 is finally finished here in Cleveland, and I need to get it home. Long story short, it was supposed to be done a little while back while I was in town but due to weather it wasn't. Now it's done, but I'm up here with the wife and baby boy. Since my wife doesn't want to drive back to Dallas in her car alone, I'm going to drive the Corvette back to Dallas, fly back up here on the 30th and drive back to Dallas AGAIN ... Anyway, from what you all see around you and the weather forecasts you might have heard, which do you think would be a better way to drive home (overall miles is not a factor - I have relatives to see either way):

I-71 from Cleveland to Columbus, then west on I-70 to Kansas City, then I-35 south to Dallas

OR

I-71 south to I-65 south, through Bowling Green, then I-40 to Little Rock and I-30 into Dallas

The southern route would seem to be a bit better way to go, but are the roads OK? I'd be leaving Tuesday morning, driving Tues. and Wednesday. Any input is welcome!

Thanks for the PM's - looks like the southern route is the better way. Once I'm through Columbus, OH, it looks like the average temps will be way over 45 degrees, and the trip will be sunny.
