Default Virginia Driver, Speeding in Ohio..advice

My fiance was returning from visiting me in Detroit and got doing 82 in a 65 in Washington County, Ohio, on I77 12 miles from West Virginia.

Anyone have any experience with Ohio speeding tickets and a Virginia Driving Record? This is her first ticket and she is going to call and ask about traffic school/ online traffic school being out of state.

The interstate compact says all these states share info, but I have friends who have gotten tickets that never showed up in there home states.

If I knew if would not show up on her Virginia record, I would just tell her pay the fine, but I would rather it not exist anywhere.

Anyone know about traffic school in Ohio??

Thanks

Mike

Mike,
Either pay the fine and/or pay the fine and ask for no points to be put on her record. I guess from all that driving with you she found her lead foot! I wouldn't worry too much about it. Speaking form expierence, DO NOT speed through Ohio. Even after they have beaten Michigan.

Michael,
Thought you had disappeared from the face of the earth!! I am sure that one of the Ohio boys will give you the info - also, I am sure that the traffic court people in her area could get this info. I know it varies from situation to situation. Got a ticket once in Michigan from State Trooper - paid the fine but no points- have no idea why not, nor did I ask!! Company I worked for had $500 savings bonds for clean record each year and it didn't even show up on that!! Haven't been so lucky on other occasions.
If you ask the court clerks where she is to pay the fine, they probably can give you all the info as well - luck be with you.

I got nailed for 81 in a 65. It showed up here in Michigan worth 2 points. I didn't know at the time but a friend told me if I called the DA there he would have dropped the points for a few extra $$ which would have been better than having my insurance go up. That was almost 2 years ago and it hasn't yet. But my ticket in Kentucky may open that possibility up again. Over 23 years driving and only 4 speeding tickets, 3 in the last 2 years.

My wife is from Ohio and we go there often. Over the years, I have gotten two speeding tickets in Ohio on the interstate. Neither tickets or points ever showed up in Michigan. What I found out was that Ohio is or was a non-reciprocal state which means they do not share moving violations with other states.
