Has anybody ever been to the Woodward Dream Crusie?
The Woodward Dream Cruise is one of the largest autoshows in the world, it is in Michigan, people come from evrywhere to show there car off. Woodward use to be a place where people who had fats cars would come race other guys even though it was illegal, later on it became famous. Woodward over 20miles of road and there are cars bumper to bumper doing burnouts, racing other guys, and you get to be right up close to check out the cars. I prepare my car all year just for this event. If you want more information go to the web site at http://www.woodwarddreamcruise.com it is a great show!!!

The day of the dreamcruise itself is a nightmare :nonod: The days prior to it, are more fun! You can actually DRIVE :steering: your car!
I think its become to diluted with Minivans and SUV's :smash: that shouldn't be in the cruise itself! Seems as though I see more of them, than actual classic cars!
The best part of the dreamcruise, is the BBQ held by SpeedStyleSound!! Now that's a great time!

Well you have to remember it is an actual road, but that does kind of suck seeing that half the cars their are just your regular everyday cars and you are coming their to see the classics. But it is still pretty fun watching the cars burn rubber and being in it. Do you have any classics cars you take to the Cruise or are you just their for the show???

I'm usually at the cruise, but the last two years my 69 vert has not been running. Had to take the Harley instead. This year the Vette will be there again...!!!

I went a few years back and would recommend it to everyone to try at least once. Those types of events are inherently dangerous though, as there is so much automotive eye candy, that drivers frequently get distracted and hit the car in front of them. I would also agree that the days leading up to it were probably more fun than the actual day itself. Parking is tough unless you know someone and traffic is horrible for anyone trying to drive a stick.

Re: Has anybody ever been to the Woodward Dream Crusie? (Paul Borowski)
Last year was a really enjoyable Woodward Cruise for me because I went with the Michigan Corvete Club. The club had reserved a space with in & out privelidges. There was an awning set up on the lawn of the Tennis and Golf Club on 12/Woodward which was pretty close to the epicenter of 13 & Woodward. There was also a Bar-B-Que and goody bags. It really was a well planned out event and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
I did take my CE out for a spin, but as for driving in the cruise itself, it only goes 1 MPH! That's murder on any car!! I would not recommend it because it will overheat.
I know last year, there was a pre-cruise Bar-B-Que and cruise in for the Corvetteforum and that was really great too!
So, you can love it and you can hate it, but the secret is to try and plan to do what is best for you and your car.

I've noticed that northbound traffic is real bad that 8 mile - 11mile stretch. Southbound doesn't seem as bad, but lots of classics do overheat - my 85 behaves itself. Friday is the night to go, but I like to leave before they close woodward, because I have to go out of my way to get home. :seeya

The weeks (heck, the months) leading up to the event are a blast.
The week before is the most fun.
A ticket for squealing tires in Royal Oak is $100 and no points. :blueangel:

I had to pay $500 dollars for a ticket and they almost towed my car away. :mad
This was last year, every year they always bump up the price of the ticket.

Yes I`ve been there and over the years It`s become too regulated. The Downriver Cruise in July is what Woodward started out to be and has lost it`s perspective. At Woodwards Cruise scalpers are charging high dollars for a single parking space up and down Woodward. Downrivers, on the other hand {Wyandotte, Lincoln Park, Southgate} on Fort Street is nearly as long and not as overly regulated and conjested. Besides, its FREE. and lots of Vettes.

At least when I cruise in the Downriver Cruise my car actually goes somewhere!
