Let’s Not Forget the Bloomington Gold Show June 2nd
Was very nice last year with a super road tour on Saturday! This is the shows 50th anniversary.

Hoping to make it down again this year. Had my '61 Survivor judged there last year and it was an enjoyable trip.

Heading down Friday morning. Leaving Lake Geneva area about 8am. Not sure if I’m solo or two other Wisconsin cars are going. Meeting another forum member near the Gurnee Mills area around 8:30am to head south. If anyone wants to meet up for the drive down post up.

Please post some pictures. I gave up after '21. For the several preceding years, there were less and less people, vendors, etc. and we always asked ourselves afterwards, "Should we give them another chance?" Just a ghost of a show. If it's markedly better I'll go back, but they need to prove it to me first.

It will never be like the old days. But was at the Bone auditorium this evening with the Z06 collection from 63 till now. It is outstanding. If the weather stays good and if attendance is like last year you will miss a very upgraded event. There are at least 50 vendors if not more 75 plus judged Corvettes and many going for Benchmark. Like I said it not the old days but what is, the more people that attend more vendors will come the following year.

Turn out wasn't like the Pheasant Run days but the cars on display were beautiful and well worth the short day trip. Being able to walk through my old stomping grounds was a huge perk for me and seeing Corvettes all over ISU was just pretty damn cool. My biggest gripe was parking. Seems like they spread out attendees in to a bunch of different lots and that makes it seem like there's less cars than there actually is. Either way we had a great time and was worth the trip, tickets could have been 30% less but I don't mind paying a little extra to support the show. The Z06 collection was awesome.

The show was great. A large selection of some of the most significant ZO6’s gathered together. About 100 cars for certification judging. It’s amazing some of the low mile untouched cars that are out there.
I have been attending this show continuously since I was a child in the 70’s. I have seen it go through many changes, several years of low attendance, poor location, etc.. The Bloomington is was will likely never be again.
The main and continuous focus is the judging of the cars. The special / gold collection has been a important part of it as well.
I am honestly a weird corvette enthusiast as I enjoy the all of them. Original low mileage cars, over restored, 70’s shark wide body and wagons. The latest and modified, it’s great so many of us love these cars and many express this through the cars.
We all have the highlight in our head as what was the “Best” era of Bloomington. I won’t argue many especially Chicagoland people will say St Charles.
The proximity to Chicago brought even non corvette people in droves. Although outside judging took place at a beautiful setting. Lots of vendors, etc.
A long time Corvette Forum member held a barbecue at his house that was became such a great event he had to limit attendance.
I don’t think we will see another “Bloomington” like that.
I can say I have been lucky enough to see many of the most historically significant corvettes in the models history and meet some of the people who made the car have its cult like following. For me this alone is worth going to the show.
Maybe not the type of show you are not interested in but the “Grandaddy” of Corvette shows I will continue to support and attend.
