Default Michigan people transferring Plates new fee change

How the EFF did this go through with no one knowing? If you transfer your plates to a newer vehicle be prepared to pay a nice increase.................

>>>New plate registration transfer fee “up charge”Also effective February 19, 2019, when transferring a plate between two vehicles of different fee categories, if the fee category of the new vehicle is higher than the existing registration fee category, the pro-rated difference must be charged in addition to the $8.00 transfer fee.

Thrilling. Will be back.

Yeah, DMV type stuff always digging in your pockets. I think 2 or 3 years ago, Arizona tacked on some bullshit $30 "Road Fee" for each time you register/re-register your vehicle. And AZ has some of the highest registration costs in the US.

My 2013 Z06 was $480 in 2019.

In 2015 it cost me just about $1100.

They go by a DMV "Blue Book" value.

Talk about about being ripped off!!

It was $8 now its hundreds-1000 depending on cost of vehicle, every year it goes up with the insurance and all the added "fees". Not sure how our property taxes compare J, but with the sales tax, city tax, this tax that tax time to get the H out.

Damn - $125/yr for plates is . In Missouri, regular plates for my C7 is $39.50/year and if you want personalized plates, add an extra $15. However if you are retired military, the personalized plate fee is waived. I think it is about $7.50 to transfer plates to a new car.

Property is based on value and about 5000 year for 300K house. Then the state and local income and sales tax. It’s out of control

Not to hijack the thread but this is but one reason why I am moving from this God forsaken state in two months! Moving to Knoxville where property taxes and auto insurance will be reduced by 65%. Yep, taxes and insurance is that much lower. Plus no more pension tax either, lower heating and cooling costs provided the summer doesn’t get too brutal and can still enjoy the four seasons. I could drone on more, but I think y’all get the picture! (gotta get used to talking with a southern drawl too lol)
