SUNDAY-October 6-SE Mich-Fall Color Tour-Saline-Chelsea-Dexter Cider Mill
Well boys and girls I hate to say it but, it's time to wind down the CTS-V and Corvette calendar for 2019, and go out with a bang by doing lunch at the Common Grille and then continuing on to the Dexter Cider Mill.
Due to calendar circumstances and U of M football games, we are doing a date/day change up this year from the 3rd Saturday in October to the first Sunday in October (October 6).
Please feel free to pass this invitation on to any friends who may be interested in attending.
We will gather together for an afternoon of cruising with Mother Nature’s cooperation. (If it rains, the event will be cancelled. I will post the cancellation on Corvetteforum.com/Great Lakes section.) This cruise will be an all back roads ride through the scenic Michigan countryside. And as always, the caravan will travel in packs of 12 with a driver/leader, and no one is left behind to fend for themselves.
I'm looking for volunteers to be a "pack leader." Please let me know if you are interested in being a pack leader when you RSVP. If I have no volunteers, we will pick out pack leaders prior to departure. Maps and driving directions will be provided.
Lastly, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE as tempting as it may be- do not speed, do not do hole shots from the stop sign, etc. Because this is a often traveled route for other car and motorcycle clubs, police will be sitting on the side of the road hidden, just waiting to pounce out of the bushes like a spider to give you a ticket! Seriously-we have had this happen in previous caravans! (CTS-V group **cough** LOL!)
So enough with the preliminaries- here's the itinerary:
Cruise Date- Sunday, October 6, 2019
Departure Point- Heritage School, 290 Woodland Dr E, Saline, MI 48176
Mingle Time/Assembly of Caravan/Line Up of Cars: 9:45 am.
Departure Time from Heritage School- 10:30am SHARP
Due to the cider mill closing at 5:00 pm we MUST leave on time. So if you have road construction to consider, or need to fuel up on your drive to the meeting point, please plan ahead!
NEXT STOP:
Lunch at the Common Grille in Chelsea- arriving at 11:15 am
Address: 112 South Main Street Chelsea, MI 48118
Parking while at the Common Grille will be in the Chelsea Depot parking lot. Drive one block past the Common Grille and the entrance located on Jackson Street will be on your right.
After lunch, it's on to the Dexter Cider Mill!!!
Departure time from the Common Grille- 1:30 pm SHARP- be sure to line up behind your pack leader who will have a map of the route.
The Famous "Keyhole Cruise" from the Common Grille to the Dexter Cider Mill
We have a great cruise route planned, and set in some of the most scenic roads in SE Michigan that is typically used for photo/video shoots by the auto industry.
For those “first timers” running the keyhole route, here are some tips to keep your fenders on your car! The keyhole route has many blind corners, off camber turns and abrupt road elevation changes
Keyhole route from the Common Grille to the Dexter Cider Mill
End Rally Point: The Dexter Cider Mill.
3685 Central Street Dexter, MI
PARKING AT THE DEXTER CIDER MILL: In a word, it sucks! It's very busy this time of year, and there is a parking lot on site at the cider mill but it's like the demolition derby. I scouted out a parking lot that is vacant on the weekends and ideal for us. I highly recommend you park here.
Address for the parking is 3515 Broad Street.
Lastly, we will pose by our rock just to the left of the cider mill for our last photo together (*sigh*) and most of you will be storing your Vettes/CTS-V's for the winter.
When you RSVP, don't forget to mention how many in your party so I can give The Common Grille a final head count and if you would like to be a pack leader.
Whew! That is all..............
See you October 6!

- If you have had the pleasure of driving the Tail of the Dragon, then you know to never-ever cross the road center yellow line! This also applies to the keyhole run.
- Do not switch off ANY of your cars driver aids, such as traction control and active handling.
- Speed- as tempting as it may be DO NOT HAUL AZZ on the keyhole AND make sure you maintain a safe braking distance from the car in front of you. Remember, there are blind corners, road surface elevation changes and no run-off shoulders.

Attendee list has been updated. As the date gets closer, we will have plenty of people going. In the past, many don’t want to commit now, only to decline later because they should have waited.
