I'll be there with my bud. I have mixed feelings about the whole Mecum thing. The only time we really checked out the auction was to grab a seat to rest our tired feet, but it was fun to check out what was up for auction. I'm sure we will still have a great time.

How true, but It was still fun to look over some of the really rare auction cars.

Will the Z06's be there Friday?

If so we might just go Friday, thats the big reason I'm going.

Also any idea on where a touch less car wash would be in the area?

I would believe so. The GM booth with all their cars, displays, literature....and free t-shirts have been at the event the first day from my recollection.

That is how it was last year but I'm wondering if the Z06 show will be like the C7 last year. 6-7 cars, you could sit in them, GM engineers on hand, etc.

If its just a car on a pedestal not too exciting. I saw the car at Sebring and will most likely see it at Road America next month.

We decided to cancel our trip. We were really going just to see the Z06 but without a good confirmation of what will be there plus the fact the weather looks worse everyday for both Friday and Saturday.

We have gone to the Bloomington Gold show for maybe 30+ years. Followed it from Bloomington - Springfield - Bloomington/Normal - St. Charles - now Champaign. So grateful that it is still in the State of Illinois that allows us to drive to and back for the day. It is a 2 hour drive for us, but that is Ok. Sad that the Mecum Auction will not be there, but I do understand their decision. This is Bloomington Gold and we have to be there!
Enjoy the show!

We are heading over Friday morning. Several from Coles County Corvette Club will be there both Friday and Saturday parked in club parking. Being from central Illinois we are happy to see Bloomington Gold came back home. Many said the road tour last year was awesome and it is sure to be better this year. I know people that sat around the square in Monticello and said everyone there loved it, reminded people of when it was in Bloomington. Last year we couldn't make the road tour because when it started we were in the process of selling our 67!! Terry hope to see you Friday!! Of course I know tonight you are probably sitting in the parking lot at the hotel grilling out!!

that is too bad. Live report from Champaign. The weather is great! I am at the factory display staring (more like drooling) at a silver Z06 vert and a yellow coupe. But they are display only: no sitting in them.

I started going in 2010 and stopped in 2012. It just kept getting worse. I heard it was not much different last year so I wont be going again. Its not worth my time to drive back and forth 6+ hours for a event I spent 2 hours at the last time I went.

Thanks. Now I am glad we did not make the drive.

Good to hear the weather worked out today, it was 50/50 and worse for tomorrow. Short stints of rain would not have bugged me, walking through mud would.

Meeting up west of Indy tomorrow and heading out in the morning. Need to try and change a front turn signal bulb that went out AGAIN tonight and may stick my new plug wires on. What installs are they doing this year?

There is a considerable amount of construction going on in this event center and adjacent parking lots that is the new home. Last year was much better. So the Bloomington Gold event is spread out very differently than last year. Many of the displays and vendors are in the grass and there was some mud.

like all things they get old after a while . as much as I love corvettes after the second hundred they all look the same . St Charles was such a nice venue , and it was so easy for the chicago guys to go there just for the day . not really more then A day event ....
