Default Open Track Day at Waterford Hills (MI) June 21 for charity

3 ***** Racing is hosting an open track day at Waterford Hills on Saturday, June 21, 2014 to benefit the Karmanos Cancer Institute, and more specifically, melanoma research. This is the third year hosting this specific event. Over the last two year, we have raised just over $32,000. Our goal this year is to raise $25,000.

In addition to the normal track day, the major fundraiser will be a silent auction. Staff and instructors will be offering hot laps for $20/session, and the 3 ***** Racing Lemons Neons will be available to rent for a session for $50. We are also working on a low speed on track session for those with young kids that want to go "racing" for small fee. The food details are still being worked on, but the plan is to have breakfast and lunch available. All in all, it will be a great day of track time and other family friendly activities.

The track day will be a normal 3 ***** Racing format with four run groups and 20 minute sessions. Our most advanced group uses open passing, and the less experienced groups using point by passing.

Cost for the event is $200 which includes a donation to the charity.

If you have any questions, please let me know. Otherwise, please head to 3ballsracing.com to register for the event.

Thanks
Ken

In support of this event, I have started an online auction for a lifetime 3 ***** Racing pass. Winning this auction entitles you to attend every 3 ***** Racing free of charge. Over the past 2 years, these lifetime passes have accounted for almost half of all the money we have raised to benefit The Karmanos Cancer Institute.

The auction is listed on the 3ballsracing website in the forum. It ends June 14.

Thanks
Ken

The drivers’ meeting will be at 9:00AM, and first cars will be on track at 10:00AM.

(Looks like Ken pasted the normal schedule so disregard the times other than what I put above. We will follow the normal rotation though.)

Matt,
I had a Great time photographing your group.
I took over 1,000 photos of 3 ***** Racing members!
Shooting "grass roots" racing is a blast.
I'll upload more to my website once I sort through them this week.
Enjoy.
Silverbird

It was nice to meet you John. Thanks for taking great pictures. I'll share the link to your site with the rest of the club if it's ok with you. Or feel free to join our forum and introduce yourself. 3BallsRacing.com

Lee's Z06 was filthy, we couldn't figure out how (he trailered it in).

It was a good event, if you got any pictures of a White Focus ST I'd be interested in them (that was the car I had). Yes, it had a bike rack on the roof (I'm too lazy to take it off).

Next year, I might bring the C6 instead of the ST, depends on when I can get the car tires (and a race harness)

Lee trailered the car in Friday night during the downpour. There's a 1 mile dirt road to get to the track and it was all mud.

John, thanks for the pictures. I took a ton of flak for my filthy car. I dropped the car off Friday night in the pouring rain. My tow vehicle, my trailer and the Vette were coated in mud. It took two washes to get the Vette clean!

I posted 25 photos of the Waterford Hills-3 ***** Racing event on my website.
Go to my website www.johnbanachphoto.com
Along the top of my homepage, there’s a “MY PHOTOGRAPHS” tab pull down menu.
From the “MY PHOTOGRAPHS” pull down menu, select “GALLERY”
Select “3 ***** Racing” (click on the picture) to view the photographs in the Gallery.
I shot over 1,000 photos Saturday but currently put only 25 photos in the Gallery.......Tonight, I'll look for the white Focus with the bike rack then add the photos to the Gallery.

Even with that, I'm still shocked.

If it was an enclosed you wouldn't have had that problem. Time to upgrade!

I just don't remember the rain being that bad.

But I was out in Troy so it could have been one of those local torrential downpours.
