Default OK, Time to bite the bullet and get new tires - advice?

I've got 14K+ miles on these GoodYear RunCraps - and I'm told that's more than most people……geez

Anyway, I'm definitely going with Michelin's given my experience with those tires when I took the Ron Fellows Driving School (unless you can convince me otherwise! ).

So my main question, is given the new tires that Michelin has given the new C7, and those used previously on the C6's, what do you recommend? Given that they've advanced pretty well with the run flats (ZP's), what's the going opinion for the best tire for general all-round use. I don't track the car (vert ), but I'm mainly interested in ride, cornering and quiet.

ok, fire away!

Remenber JimmyP was very happy with the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position RFT Max Performance Summer

Looks like a new player now too - Hankook Ventus V12 evo2 Max Performance Summer???

Hankook's are great tires & good value.

I have been very pleased with my Hankook Ventus V12s. Just another option out there.

The GM engineers speaking at Funfest were very positive with the newest Michelins, saying they're even better than the Firestone Wide Ovals that I'd just purchased. (Great timing, eh?)

I'm in the same boat. Time to unload my Goodyear F1 D3's due to age rather than tread. I've been looking at the Michelin Super Sports, The Hankook V12's, Nitto Invo, and BF Goodrich KDW2. Besides price, all of them have pros / cons. One of my concerns is road noise. My D3's are very quiet, great handling in both dry and wet. Unfortunately they don't make them anymore, otherwise I would get these tires again.

I had the Hankook's on my old C6. I was very happy with them. Michelin's may be good tires, but not worth the extreme price premium in my opinion.

Michelin's are probably one of the best tires out there, I loved them when I put them on the Z06, however as pointed out they are very expensive , and really if you are not going to track the car, go with Firestones or Hankook's (although not sure they make them in Z06/GS sizes) ... I'd also go with a non-runflat tire but I know many are not comfortable with that.

Also take a look at the Nitto's as well pretty decent tire for the money.

OK, so here's a Murphy's Law story …

I checked around at a few places - I'm pretty much set on going with the Michelin PS2 ZP's - after running Michelins at Spring Mountain, I was pretty much sold on Michelin.

So I call around, and Tire Rack had the best (if you want to call it that for Michelin's) price, but I wanted to still do some comparisons. Decided to go with Tire Rack - dealing with the HQ in South Bend.

Called back this morning to set up coming in, and now they're out of stock!!!!!! AAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

… go figure

SO - anyone know of a place - by chance - that have the PS2 ZP's in the OEM sizes in the local Chicago market??

Nitto Invos can be installed at discount tire near you for around $900.

I had michelins PS2 installed at a just tires near me for $1300.

Both tires are awesome. I will probably go back to Invos once these run out.

Thanks, Bob. - I checked that site and all it really does is tell me about their tires, and they say they're available at their warehouse, then to check a local installer.

Have Evo's on my '03 C5 and daughter's '07 G35. They are great. Never mind, just read your last post. Good luck.
