I am putting this out there a year in advance. I am intrested in getting a bunch of the crew to travel to the Pigeon Forge , Gatlinburg area for a great time and fantastic driving. I am thinking of a long weekend trip, maybe leaving on a Wed or thursday morning and be there in the afternoon. My plan would be to return on Sunday. We can find some very reasonable rates for motels .

I have not been on vacation for some time now and would really like to do this. Would love to have a bunch of us to head down. If anyone else wants to go, they can join us as we go if possible. For some of us who have gone down know how fun it can be.

So what do you say people, we got alot of time to plan and get ready to go. Let me know what you think and who is intrested in going .


Just a heads up to people who may view this post, this trip is open to anyone interested in going. Would love to have anyone join us.. It is a very open trip with no scheduled events but are willing to do things as a group if you want.

I'm interested! Went there a couple years ago in the fall. Actually met Slolane down there. Hopefully next year won't be near as busy as this year has been though...

Although I'm not from the west side, and seeing what dates are selected that could work for me, I am interested (not confirmed) in attending. Never been to the Dragon and I know you guys are seasoned veterans.

Hey Suzanne, I don't have dates set for sure but I am thinking of Oct 2014 to go. I know you have your cruise to Dexter in Oct and I will not interfere with that so you can plan that. Would like to get a good group to travel down to the dragon. Would love to have you join us. If any others from the Motor City area want to join would be great. Will be doing more planing as the months go on and hope to have some more info next spring. So spread the word.

Been a few years since I've been down there myself, getting the urge, and there are some great roads!
Keep me posted, as I'm interested in burning up a set of tires on those twisties!

When I went last, it was a week or 2 after the Dexter cruise. They weren't quite in full color yet, but it was still awesome!

Dexter Cruise next year will be October 19, 2014.

Hopefully, you can plan around that date?

PS: Doing the Dragon is on my bucket list. I would love to go to Sleeping Bear Dunes too....hope I don't croak or get into another accident before all of this comes to fruition! ;-)

If you haven't done Tunnel of Trees, you should do that too when you do Sleeping Bear!

I am in the process of getting a list of motels together for everyone to get a look at. I plan on getting a bunch of motels to look at and eliminate the ones we don't think will work.

I stayed at Quality Inn Creekside in Gatlinburg 2 years ago. Clean hotel and right in the middle of town. Walking distance to most of the city and had some covered parking.

My wife has it in her calendar and will be requesting the time off of work so we are planning for it.

That's great, I am looking forward to it too. You can do whatever you want to do and maybe do a couple things as a group. Look forward to seeing you in the future. Try and join us with the WMC this summer and we can keep updated on things.

I have stayed at this place twice its clean and within walking distance of the middle of town. The motel is about 1 block off the main street its quiet and secure. Its just one place there are a bunch of motels in town and they all are good places to stay.
