The flyover was easy
Panning cars is a lot easier if you see them coming, that Corvette shot on front stretch with Orion sign in background is a difficult shot, gotta be real fast to get it.

Did you have the photo pass for this event?
We were on the verge of going but I had another commitment. It's something we're going to do for sure next year because its one of the few venues that sells press photo passes.
If you did have them I assume it was worth the $400 or so to do it?

Thanks for the offer. I liked the pass idea because of the open access. It's just an expensive endeavor for the weekend. You really need some kind of transportation if your bringing a good setup so by the time your done for 2 people its $1,500+ if you get a golf cart for the weekend.
We've done photo passes for events that allow it and it is nice not having to fight the crowds and all that. Plus other photographers tend to pay more attention to where they are and what they are doing than the general public.
We just really started into photography on a truly hobby basis. The stuff we've shot can be found here ericptek.smugmug.com
The Air show photo pass was well worth it. On the day the planes came in not more than 50ft from the runway. Had an F100 make afterburner passes at tree top level right over the runway. My shot of the day that I never would have gotten without the pass:
But great pics on your part, I really like the garage pics. Composition is our next big thing to work on.
Doing NHRA in NC in September, should be good for people and the race itself.

I like the idea of a golf cart but haven't convinced myself of the need especially when nearly every area outside of 5 and 13 are accessible by car. As for my setup, I had a Canon 100-400 L series this year for the Hawk and ALMS/GA. It was good but I liked the 400 prime i rented in 2011 and the 70-300 L series in 2012 a lot more. Other than that I just had a monopod and a bag with my extra CF cards and batteries. I am an SCCA corner worker and It is so annoying that im allowed on track but cant get a photo pass unless I pay. I will say being 8 feet away from cars doing 150 is completely mind-blowing.
I have a 6D with the 24-105 L F4 and a 70-300 L F4 to F5.6.
I have rented a 5D Mark III and the 16-35 F2.8 II and the 24-70 2.8 F2.8 II, and the Sigma 500mm.
After shooting with the 6D and the Mark III back to back the 6D is getting sold. Going to change out to a Mark III as soon as I can.
I'm going to try out the 100-200 L 2.8 with the 2.0 Extender. At 300-400 I'm still at 5.6 which is no worse than where I am now and I pick up 100mm but in a constant aperture and under 200 I'm at 2.8.
Hoping to have the new stuff by the time I go to NC for NHRA.
